Best Mexican in St Catharines. Jose’s friendly food stand at the St. Catharines’ Market is the best Mexican in the city. A Cancun native, Jose offers the best tacos, Huevos Rancheros, quesadillas, and weekly specials. Using quality corn tortillas, he cooks authentic recipes and even offers group cooking classes. His guacamole is also hands down the best I’ve ever tried. His food can be a little on the expensive side however. One taco costs $3, and a special costs $8. The quality is definitely there, but the quantity leaves some to be desired. Overall, it is still worth a regular visit on a Saturday morning. 4 and 1/2 stars

His food is made hot and fresh to order.. go before noon to beat his downtown lunch rush! Yes, he does get a lineup! He also does catering, this guy is amazing! Soooo friendly, always smiling, sometimes dancing.. you cant be in a bad mood once you visit his booth and try his food, the breakfast Huevos Rancheros is also one of my favourites!
The food was tasty and fresh. Cooked to order. My meal cost $8 and I was full!! So good.

Excellent Authentic Mexican Food. I love Mexican food, and whenever I shop at the market I have to get a plate of something delicious from Jose. I often get the pork tacos in a chile sauce, with beans and rice on the side, but I have also gotten pork in spicy salsa verde over the beans and rice, and quesadillas. Every time the flavour is out of this world amazing. His food is so delicious, easily the best Mexican in the city and probably the best you can get in Ontario. I keep hoping he will open a restaurant. At this point it is a good thing I can only get it three days a week otherwise I might go bankrupt from eating there regularly.
Good little taco stop at the market, tamales, and his breakfast player are a perfect way to start your day, and Jose …what a guy!:)
