If your a student on a tight budget, a bohemian hippy, want to step back in time and visit communist Havana then this is your place! The waitress wore a nice dress but looked like it was from the 1950’s, Plain pale earth tone painted walls, seemed like everything was the same plain colour, table cloth, floors etc. A group of nerdy hippies played a dungeon’s & dragon’s type game of magic the gathering in the back leisure suit Larry type of room. We wanted coffee and deserts, no deserts, only oatmeal cookies. But lots of vegan selections if your into that. The chai latte was excellent however. When it came time to pay, they only took cash. Funny how hippies want everything from the government but when it’s time to pay or collect taxes it’s cash only.
Yikes. I took a friend of mine from Toronto to this caf after reading nice reviews on it. How embarrassing. The place was dirty and dismal. The table cloths were dirty, the sugar on the table was fused together like a rock, the floors looked as if they hadn’t been washed in months, and there were dried out and dying plants on the window sill. At midday, it looked like a forgotten church basement. I ordered a green tea, and the guy working there came back to the table and said they were all out… really? I went without a drink of any kind. We paid for my friend’s coffee, asked for a to-go cup (which looked like a bathroom style Dixie cup) and left. With all the competition for coffee houses around, this place needs to step it up… a lot. I’d love to support an independently-owned caf, but not at the cost of a pleasant experience.
Great service and it’s nice that they have a bunch if vegan options!
