Great Food!. First time there for my daughter’s birthday. It was a Wednesday night so it wasn’t too busy. Vey nice restaurant inside and out. There were 7 of us and we ordered pastas, pizzas and chicken wings. Everyone loved their food, the pizzas were outstanding, one of the best I ever had. The prices were reasonable, maybe a little higher than the Roadhouse chains. Portions were good and most of us brought some leftovers home. Our server was good, not great but got better as the evening went on. He even asked if my daughter’s guide dog needed some water, so that was very thoughtful. I would definitely go back to Johnny Roccos again.
Leave before dessert.. The tapas menu is great, but be careful or you will be paying $5 for from powder butterscotch pudding. The tira misu was literally no name brand boxed instant pudding. There was still undissolved powder in the dish, with a little bit of cinnamon powder on top with baking chocolate chips. Being an Italian restaurant I would expect great gelato but what I was served was a rock hard piece of frozen yogurt. I couldn’t physically eat it because it was as hard as ice. Both desserts were defended by the waitress as being authentic Italian. My nonna tends to disagree. The veal parmigiana was decent but it tasted suspiciously like tweaked store bought sauce. The portions weren’t as generous as one might expect either. My advice: the atmosphere may be classier than East Side Marios but the food doesn’t seem to be.
