Go to Sushi A.I. or Sushi East Instead. As with most Sushi restaurants, you’re not going for the service. My friend and I were customarily hastily greeted at the front door and waited a few minutes to be seated (the high demand for this establishment certainly led me to believe that the experience warranted a short wait). Upon being seated, the ceremonial water spillage was conducted and we were on our way. To order, we used a shiny new iPad, with our first appetizer of the meal left on the screen from the previous users, how exciting! Smears of sauce and crumbs neglected by the servers in their bussing and clean up (or lack thereof) seemed a fitting dish with which to begin our lunch. After enjoying this complimentary delicacy, it was onto ordering. Mediocre dish after mediocre dish was rushingly dumped on our table, ranging from warm Miso soups to soggy rice Thai plates, fit to insult any Southeast Asian. The Chicken Katsu sauce was so good that I asked the server if she wouldn’t mind sending us off with a container of it to go; I’m sure it would be just the thing to remove rust from my vehicle. I am used to my green tea bearing flavour, but their interpretation on the beverage – a simple, hot water variant with no additives – was an interesting spin on an otherwise enjoyable drink!Absolutely awful restaurant, I wouldn’t wish a meal in this waste pit piece of retail on my worst enemies. Offensively stale sushi. The lady who accepted my payment showed about as much appreciation for my business as the cooks did for quality of their culinary products.Sushi East and Sushi A.I. are both within a stone’s throw of this frozen food dispenser and each offer far superior food at lower prices.
Awesome food and service!. I moved to St. Catharines this summer and as an avid sushi fan, went to try out a few of the all you can eat places in the area. Coming from Toronto, I was at first quite skeptical about the restaurants here but still figured I’d give it a shot (on a student budget means AYCE is always the way to go). I went on a Wednesday night with a group of four friends and the place was fairly packed – we were seated immediately and drinks were served promptly. The place looked surprisingly nice and clean inside. They brought us an iPad menu which was nothing new (Sushi 168 and Spring Sushi also uses them). The menu was quite large- everything from your standard sushi rolls, sashimi, tempura, teriyaki, etc. to things such as pad thai and dim sum. We ordered three rounds of food- rolls, tempura, noodles, rice, and our favourite, sashimi! The quality of the food was really good and even surpassed a few of the ayce places that I frequented in Toronto. My favourite dishes were definitely the fire dragon roll, seasons roll (a roll that was fried completely- tastes better than it sounds), pan fried steak, salt and pepper shrimp, and the chicken/beef skewers. The sashimi was also fresh. The only thing that we didn’t like very much was the tempura which was slightly greasy but tasted decent with the sauce. Overall, I would say that the food is on par with most ayce in Toronto but with much better service. They’re great with clearing plates and refills on drinks. The food also came out very quickly, unlike a lot of the super busy places in Toronto. I would definitely recommend this place to sushi lovers with a budget (lunch is only $15 I believe).
I was afraid to try the newly renovated location since about 5yrs ago a friend saw one waitress clean the dirty tables with a dirty rag dipped into someone’s leftover water glass. Gross. But the food at seasons was very good. We wil be back, until I witness something like this lol
This place is great. Lunch is obviously the best bang for your buck. Been going here for 5 years now so here’s the low down on what to expect: if you’re going in large groups (5+) expect them to NOT bring out everything you order. This happens to us all the time. We usually order so much and they only bring half. The only solution to this… Eat what they bring and order again ! Service is hit and miss. There are a couple great servers but there are also the ones that probably struggle to understand you – they’re doing their best. The crab meat sushi pizzas are prime. Crab tempura roll is my favourite on the menu. All in all, great spot and very reasonably priced. Hope this helps.
Favorite restaurant going down hill.. If you’re going to check this place out, go for lunch. $12.99 for lunch and you walk away stuffed, if you can even walk… Real Sushi has been my family’s #1 choice for a long time, we have been going for years but ever since all you can eat sushi has become more popular, and Real started renovations and changed the menu the place has gone down hill. The food doesn’t taste as fresh. (Probably because the restaurant is a lot busier now) The servers forget a lot of items, but that could be a misunderstanding. It would be nice to have the option of writing down your order, with how much you want like other sushi restaurants do. Other than that, the food is always hot and quick. We are definitely regulars at this place, and a lot of the time we don’t get great service (could be because we eat everything on the menu and then some). Since we don’t always feel welcomed at Real Sushi we have tried going to East, and Wind but I have to say Real Sushi has the BEST dumpling soup.
Not sure why I keep coming back. I’ve probably been here at least 10 times since first year university, and now about to graduate. I mean it’s decent and there is a wide variety of selection for dinner. It’s reasonably priced and they do bring your orders out at a decent rate. Like other reviews, there has been times where the sushi tastes bland. It’s hit or miss.
Okay but not Awe Inspiring. I went out for dinner with some friends here. They had a good selection of items, but I was disappointed in the lack of Unagi rolls they had, as well as ones with Roe on them. The sushi pizza that I ate was very plain and not exciting at all.Overall, I would only go there for lunch as I feel the $22 that it costs for dinner is not worth it.As well, the waiters kept creeping us. I understand that they were trying to be attentive, but it was just creepy and made me uncomfortable. Very bland sushi though, and some of it seemed like it might have been a little old.
