Dicey Service but Great Food. The service for the night that I went was awful. It took 35 minutes just for the waitress to acknowledge us and get us drinks. It addition, we ordered two soups and just got one. Food was great though. Not obnoxiously spicy and captured the Thai flavors well. Save yourself the risk of getting ignored by the staff and just order takeout or get delivery. It would have been nice to experience the place without subpar service.
Drawing Comparisons….. That’s right…Spicy Thai vs Chang Noi’s: located on the same street. I’ve been to both and my personal experience in both service and food prefers Spicy Thai. Here’s why: service was great, friendly hostess and waitress in a fast paced restaurant. The food was awesome, I had the duck and it came with a side! I didn’t have to order it separately as astounding as it sounds contrary to my experience at Chang Noi’s. The portion of the food was proportionate to the price and cuisine being served. They also give your rice chips with peanut butter sauce while waiting for food to arrive. At Chang Noi’s it’s 5 bucks. Friendly staff, and delicious food all accounts for what I believe is the best Thai food experience in the city!
Food was yummy. The meals were excellent from the appetizer to the dessert. Service was TOO good. The waiter almost seemed Douchy. but all in all, a wonderful dining experience plus, I got to take my shoes off
Was in the area this past week and dropped in for some grub. Very friendly staff and great food at a good price. Highly recommended!!!
Don’t Judge a Book by It’s Cover!!!. I heard good reviews about Spicy Thai so I thought I would check it out. I was skeptical at first considering the location, the underdeveloped part of St Catharines but as soon as I walked in I was quite impressed. The atmosphere feels authentically Thai and welcoming. I was happy that the wait staff had beautiful Thai outfits, and very nice people. I absolutely love the option to sit in the sit-on-a-pillow style in the center of the restaurant. (I don’t know what this is traditionally called in Thailand). But no worries, there are plenty of chairs! I’m a vegan and it can be hard sometimes to find good vegan options at restaurants. The curry dishes are made with coconut milk, and no eggs. I recommend tofu & vegetable red curry, tofu & vegetable spicy noodles, and the TOFU & VEGETABLE COCONUT SOUP is to die for!!!! I could just sit there and drink gallons of it all day!!!! It is so creamy, and the tofu taste like puffy clouds of coconut milk heaven!!!Gluten-free options too! If you like Thai food, TRY SPICY THAI!!!! You must go!!! Go get some coconut soup! It’s amazing!!! I have been a faithful customer since I moved to St Catharines. ^_^
Truly a Thai experience!!!. My handsome, thoughtful boyfriend first introduced me to Spicy Thai restaurant . Im new to st.Catharines, born and raised in Toronto. Typically, the city of Toronto has much variety and amazing restaurants to choose from. My friends and I would dine at some of the best venues in the city. I like the Friendly Thai on Dundas st. West….To be exact! Now, Spicy Thai is winning my heart over. The first thing I noticed was the vibrant atmosphere inside. It felt like a teleportation to Thailand. . . WOW! I’ve traveled to south-east Asia( many moons ago ) and the music, decor and friendly staff made it feel even more real to me. Spicy Thai is so authentic! I was pleasently surprised considering the location.Thai food is one of my top three ethnic food choices. The lunch menu looked very appetizing, it was hard to pick something. The soup and salad (salad dressing was amazing!!! ) The chicken green curry and spicy cashew dish were fantastic! I will definitely dine at Spicy Thai soon…..it was delicious! I’ll treat my hunny to a dinner, and defiantly another smooch for a great lunch. Cheers, xoxox
