Really great food, just a little pricey for breakfast, other than that everything is good. I really liked the home fries! The service was fast, & my food came fast!

The lancer restaurant is a 60s style breakfast diner! The breakfast special is always hot and fresh, served quickly and is pretty cheap! Good value for money and it has a cute 60s style atmosphere! I would say it gets my vote for good value breakfast meals in the area.

TERRIBLE!!!. I was at St Catherine’s earlier this month and decided to go to The Lancer for breakfast after reading the reviews on YELP. The restaurant was a little bit of a dump and is in desperate need of a renovation. The service was incredibly slow. We sat by the counter thinking it would be faster but it took 15min to get served and another 45min to get our food. I was on the verge of just paying for our coffee and leaving because it took so long. They didn’t even clean off the mess from the people before us. I just pushed it to the side so it wasn’t directly in front of me. Finally when our food arrived my toast was cold because it had been sitting there waiting for one of the servers to pick it up….by that point I was too hungry to care and didn’t want to wait another 30min for warm toast. The home fries was delicious as was the eggs and sausage but I was a grossed out by one of the staff who had what looked like a severe case of eczema on her hands and arms. All I could think about was one of the sores on her hands/arms touching the food….I had to look away every time she came by because I didn’t want to lose my appetite. The meals were reasonably priced…. typical of what you’d expect to pay for breakfast. Around $20 for two people.Overall the food was good minus the cold toast but the service was bad and for this reason I will not go back to The Lancer nor recommend this restaurant to others. I set out to write an honest review of my experience and feelings while I was there since I find other peoples reviews helpful when deciding where to eat……..unfortunately the other popular restaurant review site didn’t like my negative review and took it down keeping mostly positive reviews. This means that some other sites are not an accurate representation of the restaurant and can be misleading to others.

Friend ordered a breakfast – for an extra $1.50 added home fries. When he brought it back, it was the smallest amout. Not a full serving at all.

Staff is incredibly rude. Rolling eyes, mocking customer to the cook & responding to customer rudely. To her credit I suspect she has worked there for a while & she feels entitled.

Mediocre. I’ve been to the Lancer more than a few times, as I live near by and love going out for breakfast on a Saturday or Sunday morning. The service, in general is a bit gruff but decent. Usually very fast, but like many diner waitresses, they have been at it for a long (LONG) time and friendliness is not always reserved for new customers. I have had occasions where I have felt like an inconvenience to the waitress for asking questions so that is a big downfall. The food is OK. Much of it- like the home-fries, are deep fried and cooked from frozen. Everything else that i have had is perfectly mediocre. You’re getting a standard breakfast here, which can be tasty but a little boring. The home-fries are sprinkled with seasoning salt, and sometimes the cook can be a little heavy handed with it. They do not refill the coffee often enough. It is pathetic to ever have more than a half empty cup at a breakfast place, and at the Lancer this happens more often than not. I don’t think the prices are all that great. Breakfast for 2 is often more than $20 with tip, I would expect $15 or less to be reasonable. It is probably the main reason I do not go there very often. They are also not very helpful or tolerant of substitutions or changes. Most places I go will take 30-50 cents off if I only get one egg instead of two and that has never been done here. My breakfast date doesn’t like eggs at all, and he gets no reduction in price despite getting no eggs on his plate. Last time I was there they also did not have a kids breakfast. Perhaps they have updated it in the few months since I have visited, but that is a real let down as well. A child eats only about half an adult portion, I don’t like wasting food and I also don’t like paying for a full meal for a child. I have also been there for lunch on occasion, but the food is nothing better than what I can make at home.

Lunch?? I think. I ordered the Hot Roast Beef Diner………if your thinking of that dish, dont order it UGH.When it arrived my wife said it looks plastic, and that it did. the gravy was so thick it looked like it was a piece of plastic melted on top of the sandwich, the gravy didn’t move. It was the worst food I had ever eaten in my life. Fries were from frozen, the sucatash was a few days old (or maybe just from the freezer). The only good thing about the whole meal was the can of ginger ale, they can’t screw that up. Probably should have ordered the all day breakfast, at least it would have been from scratch……….I think
