Bulgogee House sits on the quiet street of Spring Garden in North York. There are growing numbers of restaurants and eateries in the area but AYCE Korean bbq is rare and is a gem in my regard!I know some will argue and say AYCE Korean bbq flows over Yonge Street. Yes! I’m speaking of the Korean Grill House chain that has spread across the GTA. But please note: Bulgogee House offers an authentic Korean bbq experience. This eatery is owned and operated by actaul Korean owners. Hence, that is why it’s a rare gem and differs from the generic grill house chain! The varieties the Bulgogee House ranges from chicken to pork, beef to beef ribs. All marinated in sweet Korean bbq sauce. I personally enjoyed the beef ribs and pork belly the most! ..The pork belly requires to be cooked for a long duration of time! I cooked it until it was crispy! The pork belly was not marinated and I enjoyed it that way because I was able to enjoy the meat in a natural state. Combined with the dipping sauce that was offered on the side, I thought I was on cloud 9! All in all, It really reminded me of Chinese style ‘suckling pig’ when I bit into the succulent meat. As for the beef ribs, it was juicy and extremely flavorful. I loved the fact the meats were not marinated in a soda powder enriched marinade, in attempt to tenderizing the meat. I feel so disappointed when Asian restaurants do that with their meats. The chicken and beef were good as well but not memorable. I also ordered a side order of lettuce to make wraps of the huge amounts of meat I consumed !I really loved Bulgogee House! it was very refreshing to find a place that I can taste each meat and it’s unique flavor and the fact it’s distinguishable, from one to the other. The Grill house chain in comparison is generic and over a few bites the chicken, beef and pork all tasted the same to me. The pork belly alone is enough to bring me back for more! See you again soon Bulgogee House! I can’t wait!

Bulgogee House is yet another Korean restaurant in the Willowdale area that I proclaim as Koreantown. But despite all the Korean restaurants, this place offers up AYCE, which is not as common around here as you think. The AYCE Korean BBQ is why we came and it did not disappoint. The meats here are simple. It’s everything. They have pork, beef, chicken, short ribs, and pork belly marinated in Korean BBQ Marinade. The marinade itself is sweet and savory with a bit on the sweet side. The pork and chicken were good but were cut a bit thicker than normal which made cooking times so long. The beef and short ribs were easily the best part of the meal. We kept hounding our server for more short ribs because of how fantastic they were. They were thick but not too thick were you were curious to know if you were going to bite into raw meat or not. The pork belly, though the most anticipated meat of my friend’s, was probably the most disappointing as well. The pork belly was bland and really tasted as though there wasn’t any seasoning. You kind of felt bad eating it because it was so fatty, chewy, and bland. The meal overall though was still very good.Bulgogee House is open late which is what we needed. The AYCE is roughly $22.95 per person and it includes all the meat and side dishes that you can eat. Service was very friendly and doesn’t really come by unless you ring the buzzer which I liked. Definitely a good place to try and worth the price of admission. cheatdayeveryday.com
