Always on the lookout for European nooks hidden throughout Toronto, I finally had the opportunity to visit Honey Bear Delicatessen specializing in Hungarian and other regional goods.It is a tiny place. You can find Hungarian canned goods as well as fresh products and over-the-counter chocolates. Part of my mission was to find the classic debreceni kolbsz (the well known pork sausage) for a dish that I wanted to prepare. They had other deli meats including salami and head cheese.One of the major draws is the hot lunch items for pickup (as there is no seated area). I noticed a few regulars coming in and out after picking up exactly what they were expecting.I picked up some pork schniztel to go with the tasty stuffed cabbage rolls. I ate it too quickly to take a picture :)They tend to have the following depending on the day and availability:pork and chicken schnitzelspork stew (prklt)Hungarian meat loaf (fasrt)potatoricecabbage rollscabbage with meat (szkely kposzta)lecs with sausageOne of my Hungarian neighbors goes there when she wants a quick dinner fix from the home country without having to prepare it herself. Without speaking hungarian you might feel out of place at first but if you ask patiently what the goodies are, you will be fine.
