2017/04/13Magic Noodle at lunchtime seems to be a busy, popular place. The seating area is not that big, and all the four top tables were taken. There was a large table in the middle that could seat 8 people that was used for community seating. That’s where I ended up sitting. This is a counter service restaurant, where you line up to order, they give you a number to place on the table, and they bring you the food when it is ready. The menu seemed to be evenly divided with soup choices and stir fry choices. Regardless of what you order, the common component is the noodle. They make the noodles in house. As I placed my order there was someone making another fresh batch. The technique they use is to continually stretch the dough, fold it, and stretch some more, until the noodle gets to the desired thickness. Each new batch contains hundreds of very long noodles. I ordered the Magic Friar with Chicken, which was one of their stir fry dishes. With each bite you could tell that the noodles were freshly made. Also, not all the noodles were the same thickness, another sign that they were handmade. It was a bit of a challenge eating very long noodles with just chopsticks, but I managed. I think the dish could have used a bit more chicken and a bit less noodle, but it was satisfying, nonetheless.
