The rice cake was not well made, maybe off day. Mackerel and pork bone soup is not bad. I would suggest Sam Cooks or Piggys to try before this location. But everyone has different taste.RM

Oh Geul Boh Geul is another Korean restaurant in an area that is filled with them. The restaurant itself is tiny, but makes good use of their space by sandwiching several tables together for maximum seating.I had the pork bulgogi lunch special. The lunch specials come with rice and ban chan (side dish galore). The others in my party went with kalbi (short ribs) and pork bone soup. The lunch specials all range from $7.99-$12.99 and had a generous portion. The pork bulgogi were thick cut pieces of pork meat that were cooked in a slightly spicy stew. Some meat was tender while others were way too tough. The kalbi was very good. I should have gotten that as the meat was so tender and there were some nice thick pieces as well. The pork bone soup was good. Aromatic broth with nice chunks of meat hanging off the pork bones. Portion sizes here were very filling. We went during the lunch rush so the place was rather busy but not packed. You’ll be able to find street parking out front. If not, there is a free parking lot in the back, but it can be a bit tight. The service here was odd as one server looked as though she wanted us out as quickly as possible, while the other treated us as if we were celebrities. Decent place to have lunch but nothing very unique about it. cheatdayeveryday.com

-7 degrees outside, snowing and this restaurant is still full =D. 4.5They brought out a complimentary green onion pancake before we even ordered! Crispy. Mmmm.We ordered a dish I don’t know the name for. It served two and came with rice. It was served on a hot pot burner. Sort of a soup/stew with assorted ingredients like enoki mushrooms, spam, wiener (sausage), onions, green onions, tofu, rice cake (ddukbokki), pork, ramen, cheese, kimchi. Hot and delicious. Cost about $28.Things to note. The rice was purple rice (no need to upgrade). They served 8 banchan (side dishes) before our meal came. There was kimchi, cucumber kimchi, tofu with spicy sauce, japchae, bean sprouts, sliced cucumber (not sure how this one was cooked), shredded potato and some potato chunks covered in a sweet, slightly spicy sauce. It was my first time trying that last one and it was incredible. Had I not been so full, I would have asked for more. The menu said this one dish was for 2 people, but we ended up having a bowl of rice and almost half our dish left over. Doggy bagged it! Thrilled. Total damage after tax, before tips was just over $31.Oh. They give you orange slices when you ask for your bill. They don’t have takeout menus. Service was fairly good. Will definitely be back.

Good food but …. The food is authentic, portions generous. But the place is run down. There is never enough servers for the volume of people dining. The ventilation is extremely bad, as all our clothes always come out smelling disgusting. A complete reno is so recommended. Re-configure the seating layout to give the customers a more pleasant dining experience. Definitely install better ventilation equipment!

Great restaurant! Fair pricing, tons of good free korean appetizers, good service and damn good Bimbimbop. The only place I know if with better Bimbimbop in the area is bok Chang don soon tofu which is a must visit. Overall good experience here.

Mul Naeng Myun is to die for. I went there during a 3 days trip since some friends recommended it to me. I wasn’t sure about it at first since it doesn’t look that nice and, in the menu, the tteokbokki didn’t seem that legit (I didn’t order it anyway). When the plates arrived, I was in heaven. Everything is terribly delicious, especially the Kam Pong Gi and the SoonDooBoo Jigae. I know Mul Naeng Myun is not for everyone, but even the people with me that aren’t that into it liked it. It’s the best I’ve ever had hands down.I’ve went to some really nice places during my trip, some fancy restaurant like Momofuku and such, but Oh Geul Bo Geul was definitely the best I’ve tried during my little Toronto visit.Yes, the service is not what we’re used to in North America… it’s Korean style service : you need something, you ring, that’s it. I don’t mind, it’s efficient.Oh, and if you go there around lunch time, or if you stick to the special and combos, it’s the CHEAPEST Korean restaurant I’ve ever been to.

Legit. I come here regularly and I eat Korean food many times a week. This place has bad service, yes that is bad service. However, this place has good, legit food and has the most side dishes of any Korean restaurant hands down.If you’re looking for a good, worth your money Korean meal, this is the place. Don’t expect good service.
