Not so good. I ordered a chicken shawarma pita sandwich on Friday afternoon at around 4pm; the chicken was a bit mushy; quite disgusting. May be I went at the wrong time; got all last bites and pieces. Their famous lentil soup was too salty for my taste as well. The green eggplant salad was good; me and my mom finished a small one right away.

Sababa’s falafel is the way to go!. The only thing I’ve tried from Sababa (groceries part) is the falafel in a pita! I love it and always thought of Sababa to satisfy my craving of falafel! The pita is always (in my experience) freshly made in-house as well! So fresh that we watched them make pita from dough just behind the counter. Definitely give it a try when you want falafel or in the neighborhood!

The take out is amazing. I have had many falafel’s at many restaurants and I truly believe this place serves thee best.. I am not affiliated with the restaurant, only obsessed with the falafel :-)06 Apr, 2013Absolutely disheartening to see the poor reviews. The falafel is out of this world at the take out counter, the lady at the cash is so super friendly. I would say Mevame’s shawarma is a tad better, however the attitude and service there is sickening. Sababa for the win!!!!!

Just awful. I made the mistake of having my birthday here. I ordered the sea bass. After about 10 minutes the server comes back to tell me they don’t have any.. I ordered lamb chops instead which I got after everyone was already eating. The lamb was rubbery and I couldn’t eat more than 1 bite. Eventually when the server returned I told her about it and ordered a steak instead which also tasted pretty bad. I have never had a good experience here; the food is really bland, no flavour. The server was friendly though; but the food was just terrible.

Disappointing. Sababa’s used to be fantastic. When I lived away from Toronto, it was a sure stop, every time I came home for a visit but no more. I recently visited the take out for a Falafel in a pita. Gone are the days when it was served, brimming with crunchy salad and you needed extra napkins for the Taheena that would drip down your chin. Nope – not anymore. Now it is served up with a few pieces of lettuce, consider yourself lucky if you get a piece of tomato and it was so dry – not sign of any taheena sauce. It’s always sad when you see the quality of a great thing get run down. The Pita’s are still great though.

At least there’s no preservatives?. Swearing off Me Va Me, due to bad service, I decided to check out Sababa as it’s the same type of food + it’s in the same area.I did arrive at an off-hour, ~3pm and the restaurant was empty. We were the only diners in the place. Dining area was very clean, decorated in a Middle-Eastern fashion.Luckily for us, the Lunch Specials were still going on, so we were able to order items off there. So we ordered a Chicken Schwarma + Lamb Kabob Sandwich.Friend said that she didn’t like her Chicken, meat was a mix of white + dark which she doesn’t like. As for my Lamb Kabob, the meat itself was quite bland, probably not marinated. Tahini was on the bitter side. Pitas were very fresh ’cause they bake it themselves. Portion was JUST enough, so don’t expect a whole bunch of leftover fries or to take home half your sandwich! Price was fairly cheap, ~$6/sandwich w/ fries.Overall, I think getting a sandwich at the Sababa grocery store counter would probably be a better value. You don’t get the fries, but you also don’t hafta pay tips or wait that long. The food was mediocre, but probably a healthier option than McD’s/fast food. Definitely not as good as MVM.
