2017/05/28We chose Sababa for dinner because there was a group of us celebrating two birthdays, we had some vegetarians and a vegan in the group, the food is good, and Sababa’s Middle Eastern cuisine offers various meat, non-meat options.We started off with some drinks, and then shared a few appetizers, including Hummus with Teheena, Egg Plant Salad (traditional Baba Ghannouj), Moroccan Cigars (crispy dough stuffed with ground beef). They brought out a couple of baskets of very fresh, house baked pita. A great way to start off the meal.Then we moved on to the main courses. The popular dishes in our group were Chicken Shish Kebab and the Falafel Dinner. All the meals came with salad, so instead of crowding the tables with a bunch of additional small plates, they brought out two large plates with the Middle East Salad (lettuce and tomato, dressed with garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, parsley).I went a with something different from the group with my Siniyeh in Teheena. This dish has ground meat (usually beef and lamb), smothered with a thick taheena sauce, then baked in the oven. The dish tasted good, but I did find that the ground meat was a bit overdone.Overall the service and meal were very good. We got what we needed when we wanted it, and we were all appropriately full at the end of the meal.
