2018/02/25We were out on Sunday doing some errands and we stopped at Sunny Dragon for lunch. The restaurant was about half full, so getting a table was not a problem. The decor, Im guessing (never having been to Korea), simulates older, more traditional Korean restaurants, with light wooden frame and rice paper partitions. On their main sign they call themselves a Korean Style Chinese restaurant. As we looked over the menu, the prices for many o the dishes seemed quite reasonable, with the majority under $10. SWMBO picked out a chicken and vegetable dish (Boekum Chicken Myun, $9.99), and I chose a noodle dish with black bean sauce and seafood (Family Jajang for 1, $8.99). The food portions that arrived were larger than expected, so the menu price seemed even better. SWMBOs chicken dish had lots o stir fried vegetables and some chicken. My dish had lots and lots of noodles, and some seafood (shrimp and some squid, I think). The flavours were good, but the balance of protein to other stuff was a bit low. I think I would have preferred a smaller dish, with the same amount of protein, and less filler. Service was polite and efficient.
Sunny Dragon is one of the places that you might miss. The board outside the restaurant proclaims it to be a Korean Chinese. Not too bad too look at we seated ourselves. A friendly hostess offered us the menu. I picked up the one I understood (truth be told). It was this Chicken noodles with veggies. Along with green tea the noodles arrived. I have never had Korean food before so I should point out that it was pretty good and it might help my affiliation towards the Korean cuisine. I love green tea so that was a lovely accompaniment.
The portions are generous and the menu is big. I’m not reallysure what kind of cuisine ‘Korean Style Chinese’ is, but I cantell you that’s fairly tasty. There’s not much in the way of atmosphere to the place; it’sa little rough around the edges, but nothing’s falling apart. Then again, for the prices you pay there (my meal cost me alittle over $12), you shouldn’t expect too much in the way ofeye candy on the walls.
Jajangmyeon!. I was introduced to Jajangmyeon and other Korean-Chinese dishes and instantly fell in love. The food and service here is great! Portions are very generous for the price. Would recommend if you’re looking for Korean cuisine outside the standard KBBQ.
