I give it a 4 rating because the cost of the food is reasonable.Otherwise for taste ambience and service it gets 3.5.Coming to the food spread..they do have decent variety of snacks.Being a veg only place they have lot of curries in the main course -8 to 9 all of which tastes good. The starter section looks ok but their gajar k halwa is awesome..best ever i have eaten in multiple resturants around brampton and missisuaga.I have been there couple of times for thali take out and buffet. It goes without saying that the place is worth visiting. You get a good indian meal for your gourmet taste buds
My girlfriend and I purchased food and drink from this place a couple of days ago at my suggestion. The last time I visited this place was 3 years ago…so I suspect that there has been a change in business ownership, philosophy, or both in this intervening period. I wish I had not suggested this place. Half way through making an order for two thali combos I noticed a posted sign that stated that thali orders were for takeout only. As I was making the order I did not sincerely believe that eating inside their dining area would pose a problem as I trusted that human compassion and reason would prevail in the end. As I was soon to find out, my trust and belief in positive human nature was sorely misplaced in regards to the ownership and staff at this place. After we had received our order, I politely asked if my girlfriend and I would be allowed to eat in their dining area. The answer to my inquiry was no. I responded by politely informing them that in business, rules need to be flexible as dictated by the situations and the people involved, and would they please reconsider. They were not willing to back down from their rule. In response, I informed them that I would not be purchasing anything from them in the future. This knowledge didn’t seem to bother them at all. In fact, I now believe that they don’t really care about their customers–it’s only about the money. This situation is unfortunate because my girlfriend and I are from out of town…not from Oakville at all…so we had no warm place to eat our takeout on a cold winter’s night. And while I respect the fact that they have rules and recognize my own responsibility in this situation, the fact is that we had to eat in my car on a cold winter’s night which was not nice at all. Really, their thali rule is about money. A thali combo costs $8.99 and is considered worthy of only being takeout, while a more expensive buffet meal costs $11.99 per person which allows you to eat inside their dining area. Why not just allow ALL of your customers ALL of the time to use your dining area? You CANNOT impose rules that convey first class and second class customers in this country, you just can’t. But I guess it was worth annoying me and providing me with a lousy customer service experience just for the sake of imposing your rules? In business, ALL customers must feel that their orders are equally valuable to you. Please change your rules or more customers like me will go elsewhere. There are MANY competitors out there in regards to Indian food and drink. And if you don’t change your rules, the marketplace will take care of you, be sure of that!
Been here a few times…I don’t have any complaints with the food, but the lady who takes orders and runs the place isn’t very friendly. I go there from time to time, however customer service an issue here.
PLEASE DON’T GO THERE !! If I had the option of giving a negative review, I would have done that. My experience was short but possibly deadly. I came to this store to buy some laddu, a type of sweet on my way to home from work. My wife ate one and she was about to get more when the moment of appalling truth came. I noticed the inside of the laddu was not normal. It had fungus formed in it. I immediately stopped her and bust open all one pound laddus I bought. All of them had fungus in it. Attached pictures are proof. While writing this review its been 12 hours since we ate those disgusting laddus. Hopefully we have not poisoned ourselves. I called A1 and the lady, I think the manager there told me that you come to store and get 2 Pounds. And then she told me the ones at the store were fine. So that means either she gave me all affected laddus or I am lying. Which I am not because I have proof. See the attached pictures.
We often visit A1 , the food is generally good and prices are reasonable. The last trip to A1 was very disappointing. We came with 2 other friends and purchased over $30 of take out food. On the way out we saw take out samosas 2 for a dollar and decided to buy 4 because we were driving out to Richmond Hill for a party. The restaurant was empty and instead of me driving and trying to eat , I said lets just quickly eat samosas and leave. I understand that these are take out samosas , however as I mentioned above we bought over $30 of other food and the restaurant was empty. As soon as we sat down, a young man came over and told us we couldn’t eat samosas In store, I told him we would be out within 2 mins, but he said it was policy. I then spoke to the female manager and told her we’ve been coming there for over 3 years, but she still said it was policy. We will not be going back , some people don’t see the big picture.
i just felt that it is expensive restaurant and also that girl there told me that i can’t eat thali there and samosa will b $1 each. i was so shocked. one of my indian friend told me that she purchased samosa 3 for $1. i felt like i was being robbed and will never visit this place again in future after such a bad experience this morning.
Undeniably, you know you’ve walked into an Indian restaurant once you step inside A1. The familiar smells of staple home-cooked Indian meals overwhelm your senses and the food itself doesn’t disappoint! I absolutely love their samosas. The best I’ve eaten in Ontario. Not too oily and perfect with the chutney. Everything is extremely fresh too. They have a variety of choices from snacks to curries, from vegetarian dishes to a wide range of dessert options. This is the great place to relieve your Indian food cravings while on a budget.
