Once you go in, it is a nice and cozy place. They have variety of foods. At times when most stores are closed they are usually open. Their prices are reasonable. They also serve Shawarma, and it is probably the best Shawarma place in Ottawa. Their servings are quite big, and the price is good. Overall, I would recommend people to buy food there.
One of my favourite spots to eat in Ottawa. The shawarma is a great deal at only 4.49, and the trio adds fried potatoes (which they load with either garlic or spicy garlic sauce) and a drink for only 7.49, making it a full meal that is so, so good. All the ingredients are always fresh, although showing up later in the evening might get you colder potatoes. Still really good. Within walking distance of Carleton University, and the grocery store attached offers a 10% student discount ! They also have an assorted hummus and dips etc bar with fresh, tasty, reasonably priced offerings. I recommend the Baba Ghanouj and different types of hummus (I really liked the green one). They sell fresh tasty pita chips as well which are the best, they have those spices on them (Who knows which ones) that are so delish.
The best shawarma I’ve ever eaten! The small trio is a great deal and more than enough food for one person. The staff is always really friendly and the food tastes very fresh. The potatoes that come in the trio are amazing, a few times they haven’t been hot enough but they’re still really good. My friend and I go almost every week, this place is addicting and so close to the Carleton campus!
Great chicken shawarma. The chicken shawarma is among my favorites in the city – there is something special about it that I can’t put my finger on…..the meat is truly delicious and savoury. I am not however the biggest fan of their beef shawarma, I’ve had better….not sure what it is but I much prefer the chicken here – that being said I think it is a spicing issue with the beef – there is something in it that doesn’t rest well with my palate – another person might find it great….. The food is over-all fresh and tasty here. I would recommend it in a heart-beat.
Way better than Farm Boy. This place gets better all the time I missed the old Fresh Fruit Farm but they have filled the void and then some. I would say you would be hard pressed to find cheaper produce lots of local products including produce when possible -something I have argued w/ the Farm Boy staff about. The ready to eat food at the deli counter is great lots of choice! there are about 6 types of hummus, baked & fried Samosa, veggie and chicken spring rolls and lots of other tasty stuff no need to cook dinner. a decent cheese selection and the fish is fresh. The new and improved Bulk food section is much appreciated. The service is very friendly and effcient. My only complaint would be that they open on 9am on weekends and it often appears as if the staff have just arrived themselves. It would be best if they were fully ready to go when the doors open
Forever, dawg.. Absolutely the best food market in the city and the shawarma there is some of the best in the city. The people are all helpful, easy-going, and kind. The food is reasonably priced, especially for students, and there are often wonderful sales going on. You can get cheaper produce, sometimes, at other grocery stores–but you won’t find a cooler place to buy your food. Nor should you, because this place deserves your business. Buy their bags for two dollars too, cheap-skate. It’s cooler than that bag you’ve got from IKEA.
Wonderful Middle Eastern food!. Wonderful variety of interesting, tasty home-made take-out Middle Eastern food (try the mint hummus! try the kale salad!), as well as some of the freshest pita in the city. Plus very friendly, personable service. And the aroma when you go through the door is delightful. This place should be thronged. Go – now! And go often. My husband and I have made it a weekly staple. The cafeteria-style restaurant on one side of the store is also well worth frequenting. The dishes are very tasty, and reasonably priced, too.
