10 points for surf n turf caesars10 points for blackened chicken fondue-5 points for the crappy excuse of charcuterie board. Horrible meat selections, and was told they ran out of the other meat so we got extra of yucky processed meat.-10,000 points when the waiter attempted to pawn off the Sticky Toffee pudding ( entire reason I wanted to go) without any toffee onto and it was 1/4 the normal size of the pudding. I looked at him and said That is not sticky toffee pudding?. He said the sauce melted…. me: ummm no I have had this before. Nice try. Please take this away….. so sad Scott ( the waiter that tried to doop me). It was like the kitchen staff was tired of working or ran out of supplies. Usually have had good experiences there. Will not go back.
Very disappointed. I had the tuna tartare for appetizer, NOT good. Way too salty, didn’t taste fresh and I had a violent diarhea all night and morning afterwards. My daughter tasted it and had diarhea also soon after we got home. We were there on a Thursday evening and the place was empty… this should have rang a bell but I was eager to try since the reviews were pretty good and I love southern food. I tasted my daughter’s blackened salmon Pontchartrain… it was cooked very well but the coating was nothing but pepper or at least it tasted only pepper. Flavours were lacking. I had the lobster ravioli, they were ok but nothing extraordinary. very rich in cream but rather salty. My other daughter had the jambalaya, I tasted it and the rice was overly sticky, rather pasty, flavours were nothing in complexity you would expect from a good southern restaurant. I don’t mind paying 250$ for 3 meals but I expect top notch quality. I will never go back there nor recommend it to anyone.
Big easy’s was absolutely refreshing. I haven’t been to a New Orleans type restaurant but I really enjoyed the ambiance and just the overall feel of the restaurant. Our server was great even though it was a busy night (Valentine night) we had our food spread out over the course of a 2 hour period. For the appetizers we had the OYSTERS ROCKEFELLER OUR WAY, garlic & chili-sauteed spinach, fennel, pernod, bread crumbs and the creole mussels White wine, creole sauce, chile oil, leeks & garlic paired with bread to soak up some of that creamy goodness. Both very very tasty. For the entrees I had the BLACKENED CATFISH TOUFFE shrimp & crab creole trinity butter sauce, dirty rice, seasonal vegetables the most delicious sauce ever, it tied everything perfectly!!! My partner had the SESAME SEARED AHI TUNA coconut rice, wasabi mayo, seasonal vegetables compared to mine it was good the coconut rice was great. For dessert we had pecan pie and sticky toffee pudding was delicious a great way to end the long night. Overall it was a great experience!!
Very disappointed, my husband and I love seafood, my husband had the scallops they were cold in the middle and obviously not cooked properly. I had calamari which was supposed to be crispy all of the Panko fell off I would not recommend this expensive dinner for what you get.
Not bad but a little expensive for what you get.Nice menu if you like seafood, but the Jambalaya was not worth the price. The beer was tepid, so not my favourite in Ottawa
I have been here several times with mixed reviews. I think the food is overpriced for what you get. The oysters are definately the only thing I would come back for. They are fresh, full of flavour, and there are always interesting sauces available. I’ve had the scallops, they weren’t wonderful. Overcooked, and the coconut rice/pork belly was served fairly cold. I’ve also tried the beef tartar, which came with a few crostinis (I had to ask for more) and a poached egg…even though the menu advertised it’s raw. A poached egg and tartar are not a good mix. I’ve never seen that before. The tartar was very mushy/overdone and unfortunatelyI could taste everything they added to it BUT the beef. Looked as if it was put through a food processor rather than chopped by hand. I wish I still had pictures but I accidentally deleted them)/. Drinks start at $10, wine around $12…if you plan on being there for a couple hours, and want to order some oysters, be prepared to spend around $300 (not including tip).
Lovely meal and fantastic service. Our server was pleasant, attentive without hovering, and very knowledgable about the food. I had the crab cake – to die for – and the shrimp and crab touffe. It was rich and spicy and tasty, and I’m so glad I ordered it. My husband had the bacon wrapped filet with veg and loved it. Would highly recommend.
