I’ve been here twice and unlike other reviewers, thought the service was good. The jerk chicken is pretty good but the rice and peas is pretty mediocre. Fried plantain were alright but expensive for what you get. I thought the prices in general were higher compared to other similar places portion/value-wise.
Stewed Chickken. Came with plantain and veggies & stew peas. Nicely cooked05 Mar, 2015My favorite Caribbean in Ottawa. In my opinion as good as any Caribbean Restaurant in Crown Heights or East Fltatbush Brooklyn, which have a very large Caribbean population. I like the stewed chicken. The deserts are excellent. Like the sweet potato pudding, which is similar in constancy to bread pudding. Small eat in area. More take out.. Cash only at this writing. Very friendly, helpful service.
Amazing. Its well worth the drive to go to tropical grill. the food is scrumptous and delitious.if you are a west end man trust me there is always something in the show case thats mouth watering to buy
Service is bad but food is good. As the title says= Food is very good – but the service is poor to downright pathetic. So I just order and go away as far as possible so I can savour my food lol
Horrid Service / Good Food …. Horrid Service / Good FoodThe waitress butch short grey hair who’s always there is unfortunately the downside of Fishy’s! I changed my mind on the sweet potato bread (tiny piece) after she charged me 4$ for it, she sighed, huffed and puffed and aost blew the lil Jamaican restaurant down! Can’t believe you could be so irate after a customer changes his mind on taking a dessert!!! The food is constant and very well made , I’ve been eating West Indian for 30+ years and I know good West Indian …sadly , even though I come here 2/3 times a month for the past 5+ years , after this bad attitude debacle I shall never return.Math is 60$/12 , you just lost 700$ this year because of bad customer service
REALLY BAD SERVICE!!!. All I can say is Don’t go if you don’t want to leave pissed off. This the most authentic in west Indian resturant Ottawa’s VERY SMALL market But 1.The Place doesn’t look clean2. The service is really bad! They are so rude there it’s embarrassing!! I went with a friend & I wish I had just taken the time to make the curry goat & Ox tail at home myself. Let’s just say they are sitting on their laurels instead of trying to be better. I will NEVER go back there & I will NEVER recommend them to anyone I know. Sad
