Terribly bad food and coffee but good service. We had the smash which is tater tot potatoes, several meats, eggs, cheese, and a cream sauce. The sausage part of the meat was pressed something but we werent sure what. The sauce was like flour and salt and water: no taste. This was pricy at $12.99 but then when the bill came, the Coffee was an extra $2.99. This meal climbed into our Top 5 Worst Restaurant Experiences Ever!.
Nothing is wrong with this place. Pure American comfort food perfectly executed and consistant Burgers are good, they are also great on their breakfast menu. Portions are big and service is well run
Perkins appears to be a standard breakfast place. Food portions were large and tasted reasonably good. Our service was prompt and the table was cleared as we finished our meals. The restaurant itself was clean and tidy. The one thing I had a problem with was the sneaky upselling. When doing platters, we were asked whether you wanted this or that and it sounded like it was part of the cost of the platter, when in fact, extra charges were tacked on. Beyond that, I’m sure Perkins would be a satisfying spot for regulars once you get familiar with the selling practices.
If ever you’re looking to go somewhere for brunch, Perkins is a great option. Every time I come here, I leave full and happy.Today was very busy. It took about 25 minutes to be seated which I didn’t mind. There were a lot of people waiting and a lot of people eating so the wait time was reasonable. The service was great. Took like a minute for our drinks to come. Our food came in less than 10 minutes as well. I typically order the Hearty Man’s Special (2 eggs, sausage, bacon, hash browns and pancakes) because it’s so filling but I decided to try out the Big Country. It was awesome! It tasted even better after I put some Franks Red Hot on it. Overall, I’ve yet to be disappointed when I come here. Highly recommend it!
Perkins was absolutely great! Very warm family feel! It wasn’t to bad of a wait. My partner and I got an appetizer and two mains. All in all it was sweet and delicious. Those chicken sausages were a pleasant surprise! We had great service and also at the end of you have the choice of getting baked goods to go. Their pies are DELICIOUS!! Overall a wonderful place!
Breakfasted here last Sunday. Came a little late,09:30, so had to wait about 10 minutes. No biggie. Love the drop a pot of coffee at your table while you decide and eat. I had the 2 Biscuit breakfast; boss built her own. As a Southern boy, biscuits and properly prepared/cooked hash browns are like home for me. Only found a couple of places in town who do both right and Perkins is one of them. Boss loved hers; fried eggs were absolutely perfect. Great job Perkins; see you again real soon.
Love me some Perkins! So filling and so much food! It’s the only Perkins in Ottawa that I know of, if your going early in the morning make a reservation! Gets busy early.
