Went to get shawarma after a long day. Told the nice man there that I was having a tough time adjusting to Ottawa, because I’m originally from Toronto. Told him that I missed my family, that I’m tired from 13 hr days at school. He immediately packed more chicken and potatoes for me so I can have lunch tomorrow. Gave me a free pop and baklava. Said he’ll look out for me like a brother. Faouzi really made this experience enjoyable and I am forever grateful for his kindness. Aside from the amazing shawarma, I’m giving 5 stars because of Faouzi and his great heart. I highly recommend Shawarma Planet 🙂
Love this place – it’s close to home and so I visit once every couple of weeks minimum. The shawarma is always tasty and the garlic sauce is excellent. Best part of this place though is the owner, Faouzi – he’s an awesome, friendly guy – makes you feel like you truly do matter and he really wants you to be happy.
I go here pretty frequently, because:A) It is walking distance from workB) I can get a relatively healthy lunchC) It is usually fairly fastD) The guys who run the place are super friendly.I always get the same thing there, a chicken salad. The portion is kind of small, in comparison to most other shawarma place I have been, especially for the price. The garlic sauce is good, the hummus & spicy garlic sauce are both average. Their chicken is usually pretty good around lunch time, but watch out for stray cardamom pods. Their beef, which I have only tried once, was almost inedible, in that it was dry and tasted…off. But I always find the beef at shawarma places is inferior. The guys who run the place are always happy and smiling, they clearly enjoy what they do. They remember my order (Which other places have had a problem with for some inexplicable reason).For me, it is one of the fastest/healthiest options in the area, so it is good when I’m in a pinch and didn’t bring a lunch to work.
