I hate to start this review on a bad note, but the first part of our trip to Caffe Trattoria, parking, was one. Their parking lot it quite cramped and it was difficult to maneuver the car into a spot. Unfortunately, the man at the front of the house seemed a bit unwelcoming. The decor is sort of classic Italian, buy maybe a bit outdated. But the view from the restaurant is nice and the snowy landscape paired with the Christmas music they were playing really set the mood for my lunch. The waitstaff was quite friendly and attentive. I ordered the Linguine alla Trattoria and it was honestly one of the best pastas I’ve had at a restaurant, I’d recommend it to anyone who’s unsure of what to get. The bread came at the same time as my food, which I’m not used to. The bread was a bit too dry, but at least it was warm from the oven. A slight nitpick: it came with butter, but I generally expect olive oil and balsamic vinegar from places like this. And I feel like their prices are just a tiny bit high for what you get, but that pasta was so good that I would recommend checking out this restaurant.
The food was basically cafeteria quality served in fine dining portions at fine dining prices. For an app I had the jumbo shrimp in cognac sauce, came out and was 4 average sized overcooked shrimp covered in tomato sauce, for $16. Main course was 3 slices of veal thin as a cold cut meat covered in gravy with 4 small pieces of veg plainly cooked all for $25. I’ve never been so insulted eating a meal. On top of it all our food was really late coming out. I tried a taste of some of the other meals around the table and they were just as bad. It’s been a day since I went and I am still angry.
