We went to check out Xiang Zi because their Wonton Soup won the Citizen’s Soup of the year. Well the dumplings in the soup were superb I found the broth to be lacking any depth and a bit bland. All the baozi (both fried and steamed) we tried were delicious and made to order. The service was friendly and welcoming but rather slow lunch during a week day. Good value for money, will definitely be returning.
We had the misfortune of trying this restaurant. We arrived to a half full restaurant and ordered a soup to split, tea and steamed buns. To note, she informed us that several of the buns on the menu were sold out so we ordered one that she said was available. The soup arrived, which we enjoyed but the tea didn’t show up (strike one). We were not in a rush so assumed it would come with the steamed buns. Not once did our waitress come by to see how things were so we couldn’t ask her about the tea (strike two). Getting impatient after having been there maybe 45 minutes and seeing other orders of buns coming out to other tables I got up to ask the waitress about where is our order. She needed to check and her response was that they were sold out (stike three – they were not sold out when we ordered 45 minutes ago). After asking her what happened to our order that we placed 45 minutes ago she finally admitted she messed up. We left the restaurant hungry and disgusted with the lack of service and disappointed with the restaurant that can’t provide items on their menu. I won’t return and wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
Tasty food. friendly and effecient service. The server here is really kind and she won’t keep you waiting for a long time. This is really important for a restaurant. In many other restaurants the server always likes to talk too much with customers maybe because they think it’s a kind of good service. I’d say I go to a restaurant not for making friend and chatting with every customer is very inefficient. I just want to get all my food in the shortest time. And when I ask for something it won’t take half an hour to just get some water. That’s the good service. I know that’s irrelevant with this restaurant. I just want to say it out of loud too much.hahaha.All in all, this is the restaurant with tasty food and qualified service. Probably come again.
It was cold outside (-6C), but it was steamy inside (literally) as we walked in past the glass wall where you can see your steam buns and dumplings being made. We ordered the mixed shrimp and beef steam buns with a couple sides of Chinese pickled cabbage (kimchi) and tea. Perfect meal that was satisfying.
