The best sushi around we travel 45 mins once every two weeks just to eat here! They treat us so well and just love our daughter… our visit is always pleasant

Last night we attended the Aji Sai restaurant in Peterborough and had the worst service I have ever experienced. The meal began like any other, we ordered off of their all you can eat menu. The food came out and everything tasted good, however the sushi rolls had extremely thick layers of rice. I decided to take the excess rice off of the roll so that I could better taste and enjoy my food. We continued eating and respectfully stacked our empty dishes on the side of the table. About 10 minutes into our meal, the server came over, we later found out that this was actually the manager on duty. He took our plates and upon seeing the rice from our rolls on the plate, came back to the table and slammed the plate of discarded rice back beside us. In total shock, I asked what was going on. He then proceeded to tell us that we did not know how to eat sushi, that we were wasting food and that he was going to leave this plate of uneaten rice on the table with us. Completely horrified, I calmly requested for him to remove the plate of rice from our table. He rudely and aggressively refused with a NO and then left the table as I was speaking to him. He then walked back past us and cleared several other tables, all the while looking at us as he passed and ignoring the plate of rice that he so disrespectfully left there. After that interaction, it was clear that he had told the staff to keep an eye on our table. We noticed servers coming by silently watching us as we tried to eat. The manager never came back to remove the plate of rice. We had to move it off of the table ourselves and uncomfortably forced ourselves to finish the rest of our food, so as to avoid a repeat of his aggression. It was the worst dinner I have ever eaten. We did not feel comfortable ordering more food from their menu and left as soon as we forced ourselves to finish what we had ordered. I have never felt so belittled or disrespected at a place of business. The blatant lack of care for their customer service astounded me. When I asked for his name after paying for the meal, the server reluctantly said his name was Lee, she did not provide a last name. I left the restaurant feeling completely disgusted with the service and experience. The manager clearly had no regard for the happiness or satisfaction of his customers. I cant believe that someone with this type of power hunger and aggression has been promoted to manager, and is allowed to represent the brand in this negative way. This type of service is completely unacceptable and has truly shaken me and my opinion of the restaurant. Today, when I tried reaching out to find the head office number, I had no luck. I called the Peterborough location and spoke to the manager Emily. I explained what had happened the night before and that I was not happy with what had happened. She explained that she is the owner of the location. After hearing my explanation, she said that she didnt believe that I was telling the truth about my experience and that her employee had, in her eyes, done no wrong. She as the owner, refused to compensate my meal or even offer an apology for my experience. If I was disappointed before, I dont know how to explain what I am feeling now. If you are considering going to this restaurant I highly recommend against it. Customer service is not their priority, and should you have a problem, dont expect it to be solved. The managers, as well as the owner have their own agendas and your concerns as a customer will not be respected or valued. I will never return to this location.

I’ve been here a number of times and for an All-You-Can-Eat Japanese restaurant it has consistently good food especially for a smaller town like Peterborough. My last visit was no exception. I was there with a friend and we both enjoyed all of the offerings. The prices seem to have increased a bit but I will return again.
