I went in for a special late much for myself. I wanted a great steak, a great experience, and a mealthat could match my anticipation having waited months for this.I ordered the Rib Eye, medium, a side spinach salad, and a tonicwith lime.I asked about portion size for each steak option and of the 4 I was torn between, the Sirloin Strip starting at a 7 oz.,with the option to add oz.depending on your appetite, and the Rib Eye in the end and went for the Rib Eye, 8 oz.,if I remember right.Incredible steak – best I have had in 10 years!Cooked to the order perfectly – moist, juicy, tender, served sizzling on a cast platter,topped with wonderfully butter sauted whole mushrooms and a small side ofwhipped herb butter to glaze the steak. Just incredible.The side salad was a generous portion of baby spinach, tender, topped with fresh crisp bacon, huge slices of mushroom,nice evenly chopped egg, and a unique, light, creamy orange citrusy house dressingthat was a perfectpairing to the steak.For myself, the portions were large and I was unable to finish it all, unfortunately. I was however able to bring it home.Overall a great special lunch for myself and somewhere I would take someone, or a small group to sharea special moment or celebrate a special occasion. I noticed a lovely cake with sparklers being brought out from the kitchen towards and intimate cheerful group in the front.It is a casual, yet fine dinning felling and setting that really makes you feel special and the staff just add to that entire experience.I expect great food and above average service when I treat myself and I got beyond that today. My server was a real delight, informed about the menu, offered great suggestions based on mytreat wants, and was just a pleasure to have serve me.Being the frugal fuss that I am I could not leave my server $35. for a $25. bill fast enough. I did not order any alcohol but there was a beautiful bar and other dinner appeared to be enjoying wine and cocktails.I think everyone should try this place once and make up their own mind – I am so glad I found it looking for the place next door. Maybe next time I will make it to try the placenext door.
Just OK. Steaks were good, salads were lame. I know, I know, it’s a steakhouse not a salad house but how hard is it to make a decent salad. Also, they need a bartender, my friend ordered a glass of port and they poured him one ounce.
Fabulous. My wife and I had dinner for the first time at Hobart’s–in one word, everything was fabulous!! The food excellent and the wait staff were fantastic. Can’t say enough about the place, the food and the accommodating staff. Highly recommended–we will definitely return. 5 stars!

Mixed. We recently had our Christmas party at Hobart’s. The online reservation part was quite easy however the added note for them to call me was not attended to. I called them to discuss the specifics of our company Christmas party and was put OFF by the completely useless person who answered the phone. I left a message for someone to call me back, they didn’t. I called again and (finally) was allowed to speak with the manager/owner who promised a prompt reply to my questions / menu options for the party. I never received anything. After another call to them I received a verbal ‘ok’ things would be fine..I was worried but we went for our party anyway. They gave us regular menus not the promised Christmas menu’s (at a set price). We fixed that quick enough. We had VERY slow service for drinks, waitress was poor to say the least. Drinks not received. Dinners missing items. No bread served, Waitress argued with one of the patrons about whether she asked for a coffee or not, steaks not cooked to order etc…Service was way LESS than expected especially for (what I considered one of Peterborough better restaurants).I do usually like their food. We have been there a few times before and had excellent service and food.You might say that it was Christmas and busy but there were 3 vacant tables around us and our party was only for 8. So there was not really an excuse for the poor service we received.Unfortunately for Hobarts, the other seven (7) members of our party had not been there before, so I doubt they’ll be back. I will try again as they do usually have good food and good service. The owner needs to train his front end staff a bit better if they want to succeed in a small market such as Peterborough especially with the large number of restaurants available to choose from in the area. I expected and bragged to everyone about how great the place was.. My face is red now…And to boot, they added in a 17% tip for (what everyone called) very poor service.
Delicious. Read earlier reviews and got turned off BUT tried it myself last night and was very pleased. Great service, delicious food. Served with speed and friendly manner. Ravioli dessert is to die for MMMmmm. Will definitely go again . Lunch menu looks wonderful and prices are certainly reasonable.Diane
My girlfriend and I recently visit Hobart’s Steakhouse to celebrate an anniversary, I made a reservation online and upon arrival was promptly seated. The atmosphere was perfect, our server was prompt, knowledgable, and friendly. I am a vegetarian and made this known from the beginning. The staff were excellent at accommodating for this. I ended up ordering a modified pasta dish, while my girlfriend ordered the stuffed sole. My dish was delectable, the sole was apparently one of the best tasting fish she had got at a restaurant. The server offered us a complementary piece of cheesecake for dessert to help us celebrate our anniversary. Im not normally a fan of cheesecake but it had a jack daniels caramel sauce on it and was fantastic. When it came time to leave the owner of the restaurant Frank approached us and asked us how our meal was and thanked us for coming in. We will definitely be back soon
