My husband and I rented a cottage near Peterbourough for the week, so on the way home we wanted to stop somewhere for breakfast. I had a hard time finding somewhere online that was breakfast and not Greasy Spoon diner-y, and had good reviews. This cafe seemed to be the best choice. It was easy to get to, and so quaint! Located in what looks to be a former home, it was very cozy and welcoming. We seated ourselves and were greeted promptly with a smile and offered drinks. We both got the Super breakfast with eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, homefries, toast, and French toast. I love my eggs over easy, and rarely do I get just that. But this cafe cooked them perfectly as well as filling my request to crisp the homefries. Wow were they ever good. Not greasy, and not covered in salt and other spices. Just a hint of herb on top and crisped to perfection. I would have given a higher rating were it not for the French toast. I was very disappointed to find it was cold when it was put on our table, and very mushy. It might as well be wet bread with cinnamon on top. But all in all a great place with great food and lovely service. Hopefully next time I can enjoy my breakfast to the fullest with some yummy French toast!

I dont like your gravy. You put too much flour in it and thats all I could taste . yuk. Have you ever heard of corn starch? Also, it doesnt take 25 mins to cook fries & gravy. Hated the wait

Service was really good until they hired that waitress with the sleeve tattoos. Food has really gone downhill. Used to be great service. Now they serve cold food and incomplete plates, saying the rest is coming and takes forever for basic bacon and eggs. Coffee is the best. Cora’s might be a better choice if you want better food and service.

Waited for 45 minutes to have breakfast. It was ok but not worth waiting 45 minutes for.

I really like Monghan Cafe. Good food, service and a nice, simple atmosphere. The Eggs Benadict are really good. Reasonable prices.

Cozy atmosphere, had breakfast here after a trip to the farmer’s market and remembered all the reasons I love visiting Peterborough. Great service, good food, vegetarian-friendly.
