2019/03/23We were heading back from an afternoon east of the city, and SWMBO said that she was thinking that a pub would be a good idea for dinner. We drove passed Bollocks Pub and decided that would be the spot. Turns out it was a very good choice. Bollocks is one of those neighbourhood pubs that appears to have lots of regulars, and friendly staff. This was a Saturday evening and a good number of tables were reserved. Im not very fond of high top tables, but that is all that was available so thats where we sat. SWBMO ordered their Signature Burger, but she did not expect the large double patty, cheesy, bacony burger that she got. The menu called for crispy bacon. She did not expect peameal bacon, breaded, deep fried to a crispy exterior. The menu said pickle spear, not breaded deep fried pickle. All pleasant surprises. The fries were good, but perhaps a little bit overdone. I picked the Hail Mary Beef Dip with a side of Mixed Greens instead of fries (+$2). This was also a really big sandwich, stuffed with lean, tender prime rib, mushrooms, sauted onions, and smothered with melted Swiss cheese. The jus had lots of flavour, and also had some mushrooms and onions. This was one messy sandwich, and probably one of the best beef dips I have ever had. Very good and filling pub meal.
