Worst sushi. I keep hearing good reviews on this place but it is absolutely disturbing…The place was filthy, had a film of dirt or stickyness over everything. I ordered green salad…spicy salmon and salmon sashimi. The salad was so small and the dressing wasnt salad dressing, more of a sesame oil. The salmon roll was mostly just tempura. The salmon sashimi was absolutely disgusting, wet, tasted foul, looked like a light pink/grey. I tasted it and automatically spat it out (i mean i usually eat anything!) I told the owner i could not eat this as kt was not fresh and i could tell he had literally just defrosted it. He got mad and said it is only the freshest as he brings out a container of frozen salmon. He yelled at me and made me pay for it. No apologies or anything. Took 40 mins to get my meal….i wonder why….they had to defrost the salmon. Miso soup was just hot water and seagood broth or something. No seweed..no tofu. Do not go here. I felt sick to my stomach even knowing i ate something there.
Great Japanese and Korean food. Excellent service. The food is awesome. We eat there at least once per week. Excellent service. Small, family run joint, and they run it very well.
Great takeout and friendly service!. Despite having a great experience at Makimono in Ajax for AYCE, I wanted to try out Sakura for take-out and I liked the combination meals they offered. I had the deluxe maki combo and everything was delicious and they even threw in an extra handroll! I ended up splitting the meal with my boyfriend since there was so much food, he enjoyed everything as well. I will definitely order from here again.
Just brutal. The miso soup was absolutely the best part of the meal, as it wasn’t drowning in salt. My girlfriend got brown rice and it was frozen! The beef for our two dishes was very obviously reheated (and overcooked) roast beef covered in sauce at the last second. Ugh.
Very good sushi. Owner provides excellent customer service and is super nice. Dont waste ur money at makinono.
Hands down the best sushi place in Durham!! Warm owner and great food you can’t go wrong! Ask for the Brandon Roll!
