I came here for New Year’s Day brunch. We didn’t have reservations but they are recommended. It was a last minute decision and we got lucky with a table.I ordered the classic breakfast (eggs, bacon, hash browns, toast and fruit.) my boyfriend had the Lynk (grilled cheese with bacon), hash browns and fruit. I also ordered a cappuccino but the machine was broken. I had a tea instead (they only have earl grey, English breakfast and super fruit). The food was good but nothing stood out for me, just the variety of fruit which was great (strawberries, blueberries, orange). My boyfriend absolutely loved the grilled cheese. We paid $34 for both our meals.Service was polite but as it got busy they only had 2 waitresses so no one really checked with us to see if we needed anything else like more coffee. Getting the bill and paying was slow but again it was really busy. Port 229 has expanded from the last time I came here more than a year ago for dinner. They have one part of the restaurant that opens for brunch until 3 and the other part which is the bar opens at 6. I remember the dinner portion being really good as well as service. I’d return for dinner for sure but I prefer other brunch places 🙂
This is a great spot for business lunches in the Port Credit area – a bit away from the busy Lakeshore St drag west of Hurontario. The food is scrumptious – the burger filling and fish & chips plentiful. The kitchen staff is doing a great job with the menu. Service can be a bit slow but worth the wait. suburbantourist.ca
