We have been going here for years and it used to be very good. Starting last year – the food has been going down hill, smaller portions – not very tasty etc so we stopped going for a while.We decided to give it a try again and we were so very disappointed. The service as always has been great but the food is just bad.I ordered chicken fingers and fries for my son. The chicken was Burnt, for a kids meal, which made me mad. My son usually would eat it anyway but he wouldnt take more then a bite, when i tried it – there was no tased and it just crumbled – tasted disgusting. The fries were very well done and greasy.. like the oil had not been changed for a very long time.My meal was bland, no flavour in the meat .. gravy or potatoes. The potatoes were mashed but runny and grainy. The vegetables were grey – like they came from a can.We also ordered a burger for my wife which was again bland, under cooked and over cooked bacon on the same burger – and the same issue with the fries – very well done and very greasy.So sad to see this place sink so far. We will no longer order here and we will not recommend anyone to try it.

Great food, friendly people. Allencourt is a family restaurant oasis in an increasingly franchised world. Definitely the best fish and chips for many miles around!
