A friend and I went on a whim because we were in the neighbourhood. We were so hungry and were looking for a good Indian restaurant. We saw that Mirch Masala had good reviews but you really have to TASTE it. I ordered the Lamb Korma and Chicken Biryani. Oh. My. Goodness. I loved that there was actually spice to the korma as often the creaminess wins out. The servers were fast, attentive and polite. They ensured we had everything we needed and we didn’t have to wait long before we had freshly made, beautiful food in front of us. I live midtown Toronto but I would absolutely make the treck back out to eat…

This place is literally a hole in the wall. It is a family run business. They have a few tables to sit down and eat but it is more of a take out place (they just have counter service). When I came in at around 2:30 pm on a Sunday the place was very crowded.Service was a bit disorganized as there wasn’t a proper queue, people were just cutting in to the line, which is not the owner’s fault I guess.Lets talk about food.Chicken Biryani ($6) – absolutely delicious! It was very flavourful and had just the right amount of spice. There was plenty of chicken (all bone-in scrumptious dark meat!) unlike Biryani King which only gives two pieces. They have some weekday specials like $1 Naan on Thursday, $4 Chicken Biryani on Wednesdays and $9 Thali everyday. All prices exclude tax. All in all a great place to get cheap, good quality homemade food.Oh, and they seem to have some dessert options as well. I also saw some jalebis and they have halwa puri on their menu. They seem to offer catering. I will be back to try more food here especially the thali since it sounds like a great deal!

Great food. Landed up for breakfast. Masala is a family run operation and the hostess came over to take our order. There are only a few tables as this is mostly a take out place but I bet not for long. The service was prompt the cutlery and plates clean and the food delicious. Our favourite is qeema naan, nihari, malai boti and the chikari cholay. The plain Nan’s are light and fluffy, served straight from the tandoor and great for dipping in the nihari or to scoop up the kebabs. I have tried the Bihari kebab and though it was a little different to what I am generally used to, it was good. This is a Pakistani restaurant and the spices and recipes are Pakistani – quite different from Indian though there are similarities. The prices are very reasonable and the same whether you take out or eat in. I have been there several times since and will be going back many more times.

Best Samosa`s. They have the best beef and veg samosa`s for $1.25 each. They are big and tasty, with nice sweet or spicy tamarind sauce, I prefer the spicy green chill sauce on my samosa`s. The samosa`s are deep fried, so I can`t eat to many of them, but they are very satisfying.
