One of my go to spots on the neighbourhood. Never disappointed. Make reservations if you can, tends to be very busy on weekends. Brunch = smoked duck pancakes! Need I say more? Lunch = smoked wings or fried chicken sandwich, can’t go wrong with those. Dinner = make a sampler of whatever meats and sides you want or try the Sunday dinner with friends/family; everyone at the table pays the same price, and partake in a fixed menu of apps, meats, and dessert. We love Barque!

I really liked this place, I dropped by to look for some sauces and condiments, ended at having some pints and getting hamburgers to go from the large selection of meats they have, well …. it is a Butcher Bar, the concept and ambiance, and service are great, one of the places you want to come back.

went to Butcher Bar (by the same people who own Barque) for a friends birthday. We did the family style prix fixe menu of 6 courses. While I waited for everyone to arrive I sipped on the Chupacubra: tromba blanco, 1/2 oz campari, lime and grapefruit. I could definitely feel the alcohol but it was fruity and easy to flip. Our first course was an arugula and tomato salad with feta. The vinaigrette was nice and light but paired very well. This was followed by some smoked chicken wings that were super delicious. There was an element to the dry rub that reminded me of chocolate but Im not sure if thats what it was. They also came with a ketchup and mustard based dipping sauces, but I liked my wings without it.Other sides included green beansand crunchy potato wedges.More meat came in the form of a platter with ribs, brisket and fried chicken wings. It was messy, but worth getting my fingers dirty. My second drink of the night was a Sake Sour: sake, dillons gin, grapefruit, egg white and nutmeg. This one was less fruity than the first and was almost like drinking a latte. We finished the night with a lovely caramel cheese cake. tianafeng.com

Absolutely fell in love with Barque Butcher Bar. Would highly recommend it for any fun night out in the neighbourhood. It’s a playful spin on upscale BBQ with a warm and rustic atmosphere and great service. We started with the Heirloom Tomato Salad – it was beautiful and fresh. We continued with the Poutine Waffle, which I couldn’t recommend more highly. Mashed potatoes in a waffle machine, who knew! Very rich but sooo worth it. Finally we ventured on to the corn dogs which you dip in a spicy mustard and then roll into a curry corn.We ended with an ice cream sandwich, because – really, is there any better way to close out a great meal? thechefandthedish.com

Initially we had set out to try Barque, which is just up the street, but they were pretty busy so we decide to try the Butcher Bar on a whim. Very cool concept. Butcher by day. Cocktails and tapas style dishes by night. Small menu but we enjoyed every dish, including desert, and the prices were very reasonsble. Hard to describe the type of food but would say unpretentious fusion comfort food, if that’s a thing lol. We opted for beer over cocktails but the selection was good and the bartender was busy all night mixing so it seemed as though everyone was enjoying them. Decor was hard wood and rich, soft leather with open concept kitchen. Was intimate without being over crowded and the staff and service was awesome. Enough talk. Take advantage of the tapas style of service and start your night there with a drink and a couple dishes but don’t make plans afterwards. You may find yourself sticking around longer than you thought.
