I am not a fan.. Had brunch here with my mom this morning and was quite disappointed. They had only a handful of brunch options, which was a good indicator that this is not a place that focuses on brunch. I ordered the eggs benedict (no bacon) and a cappuccino. The eggs benedict wasn’t that good, the eggs themselves were cooked okay but the hollandaise was subpar and whatever combination of spices they sprinkled on the top was not pleasant as well the english muffin was very soggy and unappetizing. The hashbrowns served with it were decent but seemed like they might have been the frozen from a box kind. My cappuccino wasn’t bad, it was a bit too weak though, the taste of milk was very apparent, which isn’t something I like so it definitely needed to be stronger. Service was standard. Atmosphere was good. Overall it wasn’t horrid, but I wouldn’t go back.
Fine line between comfortable / casual and tired. I’ve always been a fan of Butler’s comfort food and welcoming atmosphere but lately I wonder if relaxed has turned into lethargic? A not sticky table, a glass of water, a floor not mopped with a stinky mop would all be great. I thought that a well-brewed tea was guaranteed. Maybe cold-from-the-fridge grilled chicken on the salad is acceptable…seemed odd at the time. And what’s with the music? Otherwise, I still like the food.
