Not recommended! Tried the place twice, but was disappointed both the times. Maybe I ordered wrong. However theres a difference between bad tasting food and low quality. And I feel this was the latter.
We have been getting our Chinese food from China Island for over 15 years and we have never been disappointed. All the vegetables are always cooked to perfection and we find the portions generous. We love it.
Best hot and sour soup in the city! Has lots of veggies and a great taste!! It has that old school charm of what Chinese restaurants use to look like. Food is always fantastic hot and tasty.
Questioning why people have some negative reviews. The original owner was the current owner’s dad. My family and their family have known each other for almost 20 years now. When my family and I are in Toronto we all want to go and have dinner here. Their food is always beautiful, and delicious; I will never forget this place. But I do have to admit during the time of her father’s passing which was about 4-5 years ago, things were a little rough for her and it kind of affected the business. Something I feel like they should adjust is their store hours. Other than that, food Quality is a 15/10! I would highly recommend this place, they are friendly people; don’t go in acting like an American.
Crispy Chicken in Almond Sauce #127. This is a deboned crispy fried chicken covered in a rich almond flavored sauce topped with crushed toasted nuts. Amazing!!!!
Rude owner. Ask politely for my lemon chicken to be cooked better, ended up in yelling match. Refused to finish cooking. Would not recommend.
First and Last. // July 2011 //Came here with my boyfriend when we stayed up in Roncie, after searching the options we decided Chinese and this was the closer place to us. I regret with all my life, this is probably the most Westernized Chinese food in Toronto, is also not cheap as other places in Chinatown. We order Spring Rolls, Beef Chow Mein and Beef and Black bean sauce, they charged extra for the rice. The noodles were soggy and the meat was very chewy. Never again.
