This place is hard to catch if you work a 9-5 shift. They are only open until 7pm on weekdays. I had been hearing so much about the Roasted Chicken Dinner ($30) that I had to try it.I came directly after leaving the office earlier and arrived to an open concept kitchen/neighbourhood take out joint. They had a healthy selection of sandwiches (the most famous being their breakfast sandwich), daily soups, freshly baked goods, and their Roasted Chicken Dinner. It came with 2 sides that changed daily. I chose the mashed potatoes with leek and turnip (delish!) and a mixed green salad. The chicken itself was quite bland and tasted no different than the roasted chicken you can buy at your grocery store. It made the $30 price tag super steep. The Roasted Chicken sandwich ($10.75) I also ordered was delicious. The service was friendly but overall pretty expensive for take out.
Delicious. Delicious. Delicious.. This place is new to the Roncesvalles area and it’s destined to be a crowded favourite for lunch once more people discover it. The food is superb. They have a great sandwich line-up, comfort-soups, quiche, and some excellent salads. There’s also always a fresh selection of baked goods out-front. The cookies are melt in your mouth delicious and the macarons are the BEST in Toronto that I’ve tried. This is all real food, not processed. The Chef knows what he’s doing and it shows. The people at DPK are also fantastic. Always warm & genuine. My only complaints are that it’s a tad slow (although always worth it) and there’s no where to sit and eat. I’d love to see a few tables or a patio. I’m sure that will come with growth, though, as this place is sure to take over the neighbourhood.
