I love coming to Gate 403. If you watch How I Met Your Mother, the Gate is the MacLaren’s of Toronto. The restaurant is cozy, intimate and the mood lighting makes for great ambiance. There is always live music playing so you are always entertained. The food is tasty and the portions are large, so you will walk out with a full stomach (sometimes too full!). The drinks are also very delicious. If you want a classic drink or something new, the friendly bartenders are always around to whip up something for you with plenty of alcohol. Overall, this is a great date place for a romantic night out, and great place to catch up with friends.
Cool intimate vibe. Checked this place out on a friday night for a date. It was lots of fun and the food was even better than I had expected. Had the bruschetta appetizer and the chicken kiev entree. They have a live band most days (I believe) of the week if you like good music.
Awesome Ambience. Had a great time on a Friday night – really enjoyed the live band, fun crowd and delicious food. Would definitely recommend for a first date – your palates will not be disappointed.
Dinner. Nice place, environment, food, service, live music… really good choice.
Great experience time after time. I was brought to Gate 403 for a first date and had no idea what to expect since I’ve never been to west end of the city and wasn’t one to frequent jazz bars. My skepticism was quickly lifted as I walked in and found myself amazed by the backdrop of live music and local artwork hung on the walls. Since then, I’ve been finding myself coming back to this hidden gem ever so often to indulge in good food and music – reasonable pricing, stocked bar, and friendly service! Favs? The baked salmon fillet (can’t get enough of the mango sauce) and chicken masala curry.
I think their food comes from either a box, can, or bag. Thank goodness for the music because you don’t want to go there for the food! The only thing homemade is their posters.
Food was average, don’t bother with appetizers. but entertainment was great, loved the Latin jazz. would go back just for entertainment.
