The inside of this restaurant looks like someone’s home which makes me miss the more elaborate decor of the East African Restaurant nearby that is sadly closed. I always order the vegetarian platter which for less than ten bucks provides a great variety of spicy chickpea, lentil and veggie based dishes to scoop up with lots of soft tangy injera. I have often stained my nails yellow tucking into cabbage and thank goodness for the vinaigrette coated salad in the centre to help you cool off between spicy bites!
Awsome prices and Food!. I have been here about 20 times in the past couple years. Most the time the food is really good, medium spice ( good for Canadians lol ) the lamb is my favorite. Have only been a couple times where food arrived non piping hot. For only $20 you can get a huge platter with a bunch of different food ( lamb, beef, lentils, egg, chicken ) for two people and have left overs. Last night I had a friend come with me that never had Ethiopian food and he loved it! Most the servers I have delt with have been really nice. The drinks are about as cheep as you will find. $4 to $5 beers and $5 mixed drinks. Typically there is only one server on but no big deal. This is something you go and relax, take your time eating and no one rushes you out.
Consistently delicious food and friendly service.. This restaurant is a local favourite and always a treat. Among all the dishes, the vegetarian platter served with injera is my favourite. Even paired with the house red wine, it is a meal is of excellent value. The only downside of this restaurant is the bathroom, which is sparse and always slightly unclean. However, if you can put that aside (and I do) then the experience feels like eating at a close friend’s house — highly recommended!
Good Vegetarian Option. My first visit was a good one! We ordered the vegetarian platter and it was a generous serving for two. The service was very casual but good. We will returning to this restaurant soon!
Best Ethiopian food in Ottawa!. Food for the adventurous type… may not look pretty but the flavour profiles are spot on. Slower service but the food is worth it. I recommend their platters for groups of 3+ for sharing!
Yuck bad Ethiopian – worst ive had. Went here and ordered the veggie combo and an additional side of Misir Wat / Yemisir Wat (red lentils w/ berbere spice) misir wat is my favourite dish and I had to throw out and the veggie combo out. All of the food in the veggie combo and misir wat was waay too salty and I usually like salt. The food also seemed like it was missing a spice. The misir wat did have a lot of spice but it wasn’t the right spices gross. This is the first time I’ve ever had to throw ethiopian food out and I’ve probably eaten at over 10 different ethiopian restaurants. Not recommended go to Habesha its better even though its more pricey. Also I specifically asked them if the green lentils were in the veggie combo they said no and they were… Really bad…
More. Try the platter for four… awesome food!
