It was horrible service and food! Also my husband and I watched the cook cough in his hand and made a salad with the same hand. After watching that, we could not eat our food! We will not be going there again!!!

The best Halibut & Chips in Ontario!. This location (the original) of the Halibut House (not to be confused with another fish & chip restaurant of a similar name about a block west, which seems to be attempting to ride on the coattails of the HH’s name & reputation) serves some of the best Halibut & Chips I have ever had in Ontario. I have been driving over an hour to be able to eat my Fish & Chips here for over 20 years now and one of the older waitresses who recognizes me has been there well over 35 years. The decor inside is a little basic but they do have an outdoor patio where you can enjoy your meal in the summer. I have not eaten at any of the other 6 locations, so I cannot comment on the quality of the food at them.

Some of the best fish and chips around!. I come here often as I travel between Ottawa and the GTA with some frequency and I am never disappointed with the Halibut House. First off the service is phenomenal and I am always warmly welcomed and the quality and speed of the service is excellent. Now with regards to the fish, probably the best fish and chips I have ever eaten. You can tell that the fish is hand breaded and the breaded is not too thick or not too thin but it is just right. The accompanying fries are also delicious and fresh not frozen. Recently I have been getting Fish and salad instead of fish and chips however there are still some fries that come with it so no complaints. Even though the salad is simple (lettuce, tomato, onion) it is delicious.The next time I’m there I will have to try out the other seafood offering as well as the onion rings. The Halibut House is a small chain located in Port Perry as well as Durham Region and a new location is Aurora. I’ve yet to try the other locations other than Port Perry but I hope that they are all up to the same standard.
