What can I say about this restaurant other than it was one of the most wonderful dining experiences we’ve ever had. We finally went for my husband’s birthday after living in Woodstock for 5 years and our only disappointment was that we didn’t try it sooner. All of the food was beyond expectation in presentation and flavour. We were lucky enough to sit at the Chef’s table for the tasting menu and had a great time chatting with Chef Eric and his staff during our meal and Zach was a delightful host. His knowledge of the wines was extremely impressive and appreciated. We are looking forward to frequenting this restaurant and trying everything the menu has to offer. Thank you to the entire staff for a truly incredible experience!
I was lucky enough to be invited to a corporate function at Six Thirty Nine. I’ve heard about the food here is to die for. Choices for the nights menu was chicken or trout. They both sounded awesome, but I picked trout. I had a tiny piece of chicken from my husband’s plate, it was great, but I loved my trout with shitake mushroom. The skin of the trout was fried to crisp and was delicious. There was nothing I didn’t like about the food. The reason I gave a low rating was because of the service. The hostess/waitress (and I believe she’s one of the owners) looked like she did not want to be there. I know the place was small, and our sponsor (the one that pays the bill for the night), was sitting/blocking the way for the waitress was rudely pushed away. I would’ve been nice if she politely ask her to move. Despite the rude behaviour, I still say thanks for everything she brought to me, no smile or acknowledgement from her. I kind of felt bad for suggesting this restaurant for the event, our guests though enjoy the food very much did not like the service, especially our sponsor. Our sponsor confronted her at the end of the night, she did say she had a bad day. But my advise, coming from someone who works in retail, you don’t bring your bad mood to work, whatever it is, take a deep breathe and go on to do your job and make your customers/guests feel welcome.
