This place used to be great until new owners took over and started charging 10 for eggs and bacon. The coffee is free and the homefries are OK. They served me beer at 15 and used to make good pizza. This is the only restaurant within 5km so it’s a desperation spot if you need more than cereal.
If it were $2 cheaper, I’d say this was not a bad breakfast for the money. But at $7.95 for two eggs, one meat, potatoes, toast, and coffee, it’s the same price as the vastly superior breakfast at Kal’s Place on Hazeldean. This was okay as an alternative to basic cafeteria breakfasts, but one can do so much better on all fronts. These are cheaper eggs, vastly inferior sausages, and less tasty potatoes. They have a B.E.L.T.C.H. sandwich, which (aside from the off-putting acronym) sounds quite good: bacon, egg, lettuce, tomato, cheese, and ham (I think). Might be worth a try! ottawafoodies.com

My first go-to spot for breakfast. Been going here for years. It’s still my favourite breakfast spot in the whole city. It recently changed ownership and as with most places there were a few hiccups while this was going on but the food is consistently delicious, my coffee cup gets refilled without me asking and new waitresses are very friendly and fast. New owner has actually spruced up the place from the drab, old look it used to have and added new tables. Line ups on weekends but it goes by fast.
We had been going to the Main Street Cafe for years for brekfast. The food, service and atmosphere was great! There has been a change in staff, and the best server is gone, and so is her son,. The food is not great anymore, and we have stopped going.
