I was recommended this place by a friend but when I looked it up here the rating scared me a bit. I am glad today my family decided to see what this place is like for ourselves.Atmosphere- When parking I almost asked my husband to turn around. This place looks old and with windows blocked not inviting at all. I am so glad we went in. By contrast, inside is really inviting. A beautiful fire going with soft Indian music. The man who greeted us with a genuine smile made my doubts about this place melt away.Food- Our appetizer of samosas cut up with chick peas. this is topped with mint and tamarand sauce was so delicious my daughter said she would drive here just to pick this dish up. We decided to try a whole pile of dishes- 1) palak paneer- This is one of my favourite dishes. Creamed spinach with spices and cottage cheese. I liked this dish a lot. I would have liked more cheese but that is just me. 2) butter chicken- This is great tasting but ditto for the chicken in it. 3) vegetable korma- The best sauce I have had. It had a symphony of different tastes that blended well in your mouth. 4) chicken vindaloo- I had never tried this dish and our server recommended it instead of plain rice. Wow! Everyone at the table loved it. The chicken was so moist and the rice had so much spice that blended so well that left me wondering why I had never ordered this dish anywhere else. I highly recommend adding this dish to your order. 5) lamb tikka- The taste was scrumptious, however, the lamb was sadly scorched a bit taking away from the excellent flavour. We even removed it as soon as it arrived to our table sizzling before it was cooked more. Such a shame. 6) garlic naan bread- Humongous pieces of naan but not as much garlic as I had hoped for. With these dishes came a trio of sauces- mint, tamarand, and my favourite- mango chutney. All were good but I particularly liked the chutney.Service- Our waiter was attentive and friendly. He came around filling glasses and removing empty plates etc. I loved his recommendations for the vindaloo. Now i will look for it on menus in future.Impression- I will be back for sure. We did have to wait for our dishes but as with one of my favourite places in town ( This one is almost as good) The Sagamatha Curry Palace ( wait is actually a lot longer) it is well worth the wait.
