FOOD:We had come here on a Saturday at around 12:30 pm on the Canada Day Long Weekend. Luckily, when we had arrived, we were able to get a table as they usually book only through reservation on Saturdays (since it is usually very busy). Since it was the long weekend, there was only one other table with two guests, and our table. On this particular visit, they mentioned they would only be serving High Tea ($45 For Two People), which was okay with us as we were quite hungry.First, we were given a menu with the tea selections on it; I had chosen Decaffeinated Orange Pekoe, while my husband had settled on English Breakfast. The tea was exquisite, and came in beautifully-decorated tea pots which made it taste even better. The amount of tea that we were given was also a large amount, which kept us drinking throughout our entire visit, without needing any refills. Next, we were given a three-tiered dish that had all of the fixings on it, which included on the bottom, the Tea Sandwiches; in the middle, the Scones and Bakewell Tarts; and on the top, a selection of various desserts. In terms of the Tea Sandwiches, we were given five different ones; Open-Faced Smoked Salmon, Egg Salad, Cucumber And Cream Cheese, Corned Beef, and White Tuna. I was HIGHLY impressed with how delicious all of the tea sandwiches tasted; they were very well-prepared, fresh, large, and had the best ingredients that I had ever tasted. I enjoyed the different shapes of the bread that the sandwiches came on, and also the brown and white bread mixed together. I was very full after eating all of the sandwiches, and even had to take some home! The Scones were also divine, as they were crunchy on the bottom, and soft on the inside (which is the true British-style). I loved how we were each given a bowl of Clotted Cream And Jam, with a lot of both inside the bowls. The Bakewell Tarts were to die for; they were large, with just the perfect amount of jam and icing, with each bite tasting better than the first; such a delicious treat, and professionally-done as well! I really enjoyed both the Scones and Bakewell Tarts, two excellent treats that made my day!Lastly, the desserts on the top consisted of Cream Horns, Mini Carrot Cakes, and Mini Victoria Sponge Cakes. My goodness, these were so delicious, I couldn’t contain my excitement at how good they tasted! The Cream Horns were fresh, with fresh cream on the inside, and a crunchy outside, along with the Mini Victoria Sponge and Carrot Cakes, which were both large sizes, and had very intricate designs on them. We were VERY impressed with how delicious everything tasted; the BEST of any tearoom I’ve ever been to!ATMOSPHERE:When we first walked-in to the tea room, I was blown away at how gorgeous everything looked. There was a small parlour at the front, which consisted of very comfortable chairs and a sofa, along with elegant portraits of royal figures on the wall, and a collection of tea cups, saucers, and other delicate items. Even the colouring on the wall was soft and subtle, with a touch of elegance at every glance. The room behind the parlour was where the dining tables were, which was even more astonishing! There were delicate place settings on each table, along with antique chairs and tables which had lovely cushions on them, and lace tablecloths. There was also a gorgeous hutch which contained teacups, three-tiered dishes, and utensils. The thing that really fascinated me was how authentic the atmosphere felt, which was clean, crisp, and inviting, making me feel as though I really were dining in the Victorian era! I also loved how airy and open the dining area was, which made me feel comfortable, It was truly a very relaxing experience dining in such a lovely area, along with quiet classical music, and the smells of freshly homemade goods!SERVICE:When we first walked-in, we were served by Julie, who owns the tearoom with her daughter, Ashley, who is the main baker. Julie was so kind, caring, and patient from the start! She brought over our items in a timely-manner, and even talked to us about our visit, along with our lives in general. We really felt warm being in Julie’s presence, and loved having her serve us. Ashley then came out of the kitchen to greet us, and made us feel also, quite at home. Ashley was so kind when we were leaving as she gave my son a chocolate bar for being so good, we thought that was such a sweet gesture on her behalf! We loved how Julie was actually from England, and wanted to create a piece of England in Canada through the tearoom, such a wonderful idea! The service really made this experience stand-out, well-done Julie and Ashley!COST:High Tea For Two: $45.00 + Tax = $50.85WOULD YOU RETURN?Without a doubt! This is the BEST tearoom that I have ever been to; clean, comfortable, and authentic, with excellent food, dcor, and service. I would HIGHLY recommend this tearoom to anybody that wants a true experience!
