I am shocked people are calling this the best pizza and Italian food…maybe in this small industrial section of Hamilton, but it is not the best of anywhere else. Not run by Italians either.1.5 hours to get one appetizer and two personal pizzas on a not so busy Saturday afternoon.Seated in a dark, dingy corner. Didn’t feel like a restaurant, felt like a school gym.Server ignored us, provided water late, took order late, finally got us some plain bread. Calamari was edible, would never order it again or recommend it. Pizza was plain. Pretty sure they didn’t even add the asiago cheese that was on the menu. Ingredients came from a can. Nasty farts for the rest of the evening, both of us. Not run by Italians, this is not good quality Italian cuisine. Their food is edible and some people seem to enjoy it, and that’s fine.
I get the same thing every time- the vegetarian pizza and the caprese salad. The balsamic reduction on the salad is delicious and the pesto instead of the basil is a nice addition. The thing I love the most here is the pizza. I lived in Naples Italy for three years and this crust is the most authentic Italian pizza you will ever eat.
Great food!. We come often and enjoy bringing new friends and family. We are never disappointed!
I’m a snob when it comes to italian food. And this place is by far the best in the area. The kind of Italian food you would expect from Toronto. Simple, classic recipes and executed perfectly. The decor was, meh but that didn’t bother me. Service was great too. Don’t bother with any other italian food in the area. It’s all bastardized, white wash, mangia cake garbage. I just moved to the area, and I will be bringing the family next time.
So what it was Mothers Day! The restaurant agreed to a RESERVATION. It’s not the diner’s fault. That’s why it’s called a reservation.
Disappointing experience. After hearing the commercials on the radio, I thought to try The Express for my mothers birthday. Like one of the other reviewers had mentioned, the inside looks like an elementary school gym, the tables and chairs are very basic, and the food was extremely slow. Plus, the prices are not that great. Veal parmigian was $20 which is not bad, but considering the ambiance of the restaurant, you would think the prices would be lower because the restaurant overall is nothing special. Our waitress also didn’t bring out one of our items, I guess she didn’t hear us when we ordered, which was OK because the portions are pretty large. BUT, she could have given us a complimentary cappuccino when we ordered it.. Overall, I would not return here. I would prefer to go to a nicer Italian restaurant, such as La Cantina where the prices are pretty much the same, but the overall experience is much better
