My girlfriend and I could not finish either of our meals. We maybe took 3 bites, got up, paid our bill, and left. In my opinion this place has bad thai food. Looks nice going in though.

It is a little pricey to say it’s my all-time-favourite restaurant; but food is great and tasty. A lot of different menus you cannot find at a different Vietnamese restaurant. Friendly servers who always smile at you.Would definitely go back in the future with my family!

The vegetable pad Thai had ZERO vegetables. Tofu was rock solid. Honestly the worse pad Thai I have ever had in my life. Will never again order from here which is sad as the one in Guelph is great.

The good: Everything related to the kitchen. Food came out timely and fresh. Pad Thai tasted great (it can be hit or miss with Ben Thanh) and large portions. The bad: Everything else. It took 25 minutes to get a diet coke, 20 minutes more for someone to take our order, 20 minutes after our meal was done for someone to ask if we wanted take out containers, and then another 30 minutes to get a bill. And this is when the restaurant was empty. If you are going to try a Ben Thanh, go to the downtown location.

Food ok, service terrible. Fan of the downtown location so we visited the north location for the first time. We received our tea shortly after we arrived and then no service for about 20-25 min including water or drinks. We finally flagged down waitress who it seemed was only one on floor Couple of us ordered the meal that includes soup, appetizer, main, side and desert. Appetizer was served before soup. Main served without rice and pasta. That came 5 min later and also missed a few orders. Really disappointed in service. Food was just ok.If the server was on her own, then it’s not her fault, but managements! Restaurant was busy! Not sure if we will return Too bad, good location.

Went 3 Times – Worse Each Visit. Wow. What a difference from original location @ York and Rideout. Staff there were attentive, friendly and caring. This location couldn’t be more different! Food – We tried the Basil Pad Thai. It’s delicious. Excellent texture and taste. Although Spring Rolls tasted great, probably a bit too greasy. Chicken Cashew dish was excellent. And my son loved the Fried Rice. Service – Pains me to re-live. Horrible would be a nice way to put it. First night a couple weeks ago we had to ask 3 times for our Spring Rolls. She finally gave them to us after we finished eating??!! And I had repeatedly asked for utensils, sauces and water. I gave up on tea. Didn’t want to burden them as they kept saying how ‘busy it was.’ Second night the Pad Thai obviously sat under a heat lamp for enough time to turn it jnto a large pile of rubber. And the same ‘we’re so busy’ line was being used so once again I gave up on service and went and got utensils and sauces myself. What I did determined was the lack of staff caused it to seem too busy. Not influx of customers. Now for the third attempt…relatives were in town and loved original Ben Thanh so they insisted. BAD idea. Thursday March 19. It wasn’t overly busy. Our large dining area was clear except a few tables. I really hoped they got it together and we could enjoy dinner. Wrong. They did take order quickly and brought out Spring Rolls and soup right after. But it crashed from there. Had to keep asking for bowls and spoons. That took 10 minutes. And now the wait began. 45 minutes for food. And despite waitress asking twice to confirm we wanted Chicken Pad Thai, they brought shrimp dish instead. I said we will try to take shrimp out. Waitress was pulling it from me and insisted on taking it to kitchen for them to fix! I said no, 3 kids have waited too long already. We need to eat. But please bring me correct Pad Thai. And once again I had to chase down utensils, sauces and water. Asked twice and nothing so I did it myself. Although I couldn’t locate plates so we went with saucers from our spring rolls. Young staff are nice but ill equipped. Feel bad for them. Finally able to leave and am paying the bill and sure enough, they added extra Pad Thai. Yes, we got it. But after all this, I was shocked they charged me. I explained to waitress that you gave us wrong pad thai. She said sorry…if I remove it from bill the owner will charge her for it?!?? Ok. Then I will deal with the owner. So this tyrant owner is arguing with me in front of customers. Completely agreeing with me that service is beyond deplorable (WE BUSY) and acknowledging we received WRONG food….BUT I should pay because we received it!!!! Now I’m actually laughing. Would be customers are looking at her like she’s crazy. So finally she reluctantly agrees and takes bill from me. Another ten minute wait. I really wanted to tell the people in line that they’re getting the best service possible by Ben Thanh’s at that moment!!! Before they sit down. Because it’s all down hill from there. Brutal!!! The problem of being ‘Too busy’ is a great issue to have Ben Thanh’s. But take solace in the fact that problem will disappear real soon! We might try take out in the future. Maybe.

Mediocre at on a good day. This restaurant has a classy, modern atmosphere- cool furniture, artwork and even the china is interesting. it’s also pretty clean too. HOWEVER, the food isn’t good for what you pay for. I’m vietnamese so I know what authentic tastes like lol. I ordered a vercimelli BBQ pork am spring roll dish. The noodles were cold and stiff (not soft), seemed like they were a day old . The spring roll was really really greasy which was kind of gross and was 60% wrapper instead of filling. The BBQ pork was pretty good though. Seemed like it was lazily put together. My friend ordered the pad thai, seemed like they smothered it in ketchup and pad thai sauce. We weren’t given chopsticks/cutlery to eat our food with when we were served. Weird. Wouldn’t come back here again. There’s other vietnamese restaurants in London that are way better, in terms of food authenticity and quality such as TK and dem hai deng.
