Went here for dinner tonight at this just opened franchise restaurant. I had one of their signature burgers and my partner had the breaded chicken sandwich with a side salad. Not needing more calories we still ordered a large fries that we shared. Staff were both helpful and confusing. I have been to Burger Works, 5 guys and Union Burger to name a few and all were cheaper and more special than South St. To be fair it is new and the staff need more training but that won’t make the meal any better. Our meal cost $30.00 without any drinks, was okay but not very special and above the pay grade for most families. The fries were almost $10 and not even fresh cut but cooked from frozen. The concept of the build you own burger with charges to most selected items is a moneymaker that encourages sticker shock.It was a just okay meal but there are many other worthwhile options to better spend your hard earned dollar. Add to that less than a kilometre away on all sides sits 5 Guys, Harvey’s, Wendy’s, and McDonalds – fellow fast food and much cheaper hamburger joints. Right now I would rate them all ahead of South Street. Outdoor patio is poorly planned and surrounded by exhaust spewing cars and not a feature.Everyone will be going after their share, and the pie only has so many slices. I can’t see us going back. Better keep your heads up and ear to the ground boys.
