The food isn’t anything special. I ordered a meat platter that I can’t remember the name of. The sausage was amazing but the other meats were a tad dry.The real reason I go here is the beer though. I usually love the Climate Change wheat beer, but the last time I had it, it was very mediocre. I understand that batches will vary, but most breweries would not sell a batch that bad.
As a well-rounded beer enthusiast and out-of-town traveller, I have a very specific taste for beers. The food was not the problem at Toboggan and the beer was amateur at best! I witnessed a group of university students being treated poorly by their staff. After purchasing a bottle of their brew on my way out I noticed a young girl from that group of university students in tears. The bar however was nice!
Great food, great drinks , great atmosphere. We shared several items from the menu loved 5/6 of them. Didn’t care for the bacon bomb sandwich. Everything else amazing. Troy was our server. Took great care of us. Recommend highly
Have the bacon bomb….seriously. The cider is delicious also. Great patio and initial service kinks have been worked out. Nice mix of patrons. I don’t feel too old or too young for this spot. Centrally located by Victoria Park in the middle of Richmond Row. I am not a beer drinker but my partner enjoyed their Mr. Insurance Man beer.
I’ve been here for lunches and work events. Most of of the food on the menu I would give a extremely middle of the pack average. The smoked meats are really good though so I would highly recommend those. They have really good flavour and they aren’t dried out when they come as meat is sometimes in restaurants.I am also not much of an expert in beer, but that seems to be a main selling point for them and I found their beers pretty good.
HORRIBLE food. The salad trio, the chopped salad and the pear salad were all horrible. Took over a half an hour to get our food and the service was horrible. They charge extra for any substitutions. We asked for no bacon and they still put bacon. Nothing tasted good.
Great restaurant to hang with friends or date night. Very busy and loud, but a great atmosphere and live music. Pizzas were tasty, thin crust cooked in a real stone oven. Crust could’ve been a bit more cooked in the middle but I guess it’s hard to do when there’s so many toppings and so much cheese. In Italy, they use far less toppings and are able to cook the crust more. But the flavours were very good… Had the margarita, Brie and mushroom, brisket. Mushroom pizza was the best. Also tried the mussels, kale Cesar and chicken wings. My only letdown was the sampling of ‘own’ brews. Had the two ciders, vanilla stout and the blonde beer. Only the blonde was worth trying again. Did not love the ciders at all… They tasted like they were made from rotten apples!
