The fortune cookie was good. Was too pricey and lacked flavour. Cost was $10.40 for vegetable fried rice with sweet and sour sauce. When I got it home, the serving size was like a large coffee. Will not be going there again. Even the lady serving was complaining they are understaffed.

DELICIOUS!!!. I LOVE the food from Gene’s!! A Stratford staple for years, I think I have been eating their food for at least 25 years and it’s always been tasty and hot! There is a reason why Gene’s has outlasted every other Chinese food restaurant in this city (except for one mediocre buffet currently open) and that is QUALITY! I have eaten in the restaurant and have had take-out more times that I can count. Even friends from New York City think that the food from Gene’s is superior to some of the places in NYC and when they are in town it’s one of the places they insist we eat at while they are here. The portions are always more than generous and a dinner for one can easily feed two, as a dinner for two is more than enough to feed four. Gene’s is one of Stratford’s best kept secrets!
I think I have been spoiled going to some great Chinese restaurants that cater to vegetarians. I find gene’s vegetarian dishes consistently boring, and bland. My grandparents love it – just not for me!
CUSTOMER SERVICE. I have ordered her a couple of times and that normally when i am tired of pizza as that is all Stratford has to offer via delivery. half the time the food isn’t horrible, but way over priced. Now that would be bad enough but when you call them on an order that is in correct they are not willing to rectify the situation by comping your meal and sending what you actually ordered. They will charge you the delivery cost to send the right order. Now in my books this is not good business.
