2018/11/17It was time for a break from shopping, to have late-ish lunch. Our choice today was Keystone Alley. When the four of us arrived shortly after 1 pm the restaurant was mostly full, but there were a couple of open tables. The restaurant seats about 50. The lunch menu and the prices reflected upscale diner fare, with a couple of international twists. SWBMO selected the Crispy Chicken Sandwich with a side of greens ($16). Buttermilk fried chicken, with slaw and a peri-peri sauce. Crispy batter with a mild zing in each bite. I chose the Hippie Bowl ($16). I opted not to add grilled chicken for another $7. The bowl started with a bed of warm rice, topped with julienned carrots and beets. There was also some kale crumble, which was cooked and somehow toasted so that it crumbled, which made it much easier to chew than fresh kale. There was some crunch provided by toasted almonds and chickpeas that were fried until crispy. The tahini dressing was fairly mild, and added a light flavour to the veggies. There was one item on the dinner menu and dessert menu that puzzled me: Six Pack for the Kitchen for $10. I asked our server about this, and it was essentially intended to provide a direct tip to the kitchen staff so that they buy themselves some beer for the end of their shift. Sorry, but I dont agree with this practice. Service was polite and efficient.
The Keystone Alley is an absolute must. I have been there numerous times and every time I leave feeling wowed. The atmosphere is 5 stars. The food is 5 stars. The service is 5 stars. And the outdoor patio is absolutely a 5 star.
This has become my favourite restaurant in Stratford. In the summer they have the best patio in town and in the winter they have the most beautifully renovated restaurant. The food is 5 stars and the service is always excellent. We highly recommend this restaurant. You won’t be disappointed.
The Best Restaurant in Stratford. This is by far the best restaurant in Stratford, the best chef-owner, and one of the best people in Stratford. We go there every time we are in the city as many times as we can.
Dessert only. Atmosphere is a little old school and decor is not too modern, but service is kind and casual, and food is good. Best trio of creme brulee I’ve ever had! Would dine here again, but only for the dessert.
