Good food. I thought the food and atmosphere was nice for a small town. I was passing through and read good reviews. Would definitely return if I was passing through again. My order was a burger and Caesar salad, ingredients were fresh and burger was handmade.

Ate here with my family of four on our way through Woodstock, where we had never been before. Both Banana Leaf and Osaka Sushi were closed for Civic holiday (both had good online reviews) but Charles Dickens was not only open but packed. We were seated within 2 minutes of arriving. Service was friendly but a bit slow – due to the crowds I imagine. My husband and I had haddock and chips and kids ordered off the kids menu. We were able to substitute veggies for fries for one of the kids meals. The adult fish and chips was on special – 2 for 1 – and was really quite good. I was a bit surprised that there was no salad on the plate. The only green was a slight hue from the pickle in the tartar sauce. Luckily my husband ordered a side salad as well, which we shared, it was fresh and delicious. When the bill came I was pleasantly surprised — just over forty dollars for a family of four, including a Guiness for my husband. Great value! The restaurant has a nice British vibe, sports coverage on a few screens, overall nicely done with dark wood, bar; I even noticed the carpet on the floor was in tune with the authentic pub look. Wish we were planning to return to Woodstock soon – would definitely go again if had the chance.

Great Fish & Chips. I was there last night for their Thursday specials. I had the fish & chips which is the best I have had in quite some time. It was cooked to perfection, plump and tastey. The atmosphere is that of a cozy English pub and appears to be a favorite among the locals. The place was full.

Best steak sandwich I have had in a while. Incredible place. Busy but well worth it. Pretty well the best steak sandwich I have had since Jack Astors gave up on the Memphis Peppercorn sandwich about 7 years ago. Great choice of beers but the do NOT have Newcastle Brown Ale which I thought was kinda wierd.
