This is going to be a very interesting review for this ravenous meat eater. I had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant two weeks ago quite by choice because my partner is vegetarian. I have never been to a vegetarian restaurant in my life and to be perfectly honest although I do enjoy some meatless dishes I wasn’t expecting the extravaganza that was my meal at Awai. Every day the menu changes. I won’t bother explaining the dishes that we had but the concept is amazing; tasting menu, all you can eat from appetiser to dessert, and most amazingly, no menu and no prices. What an amazing concept! The only menu in the establishment is their wine list. They have a small selection of wines but the selection that they do have is clearly meant to be paired with vegetarian dishes. Great choices!I love this place. The only problem I have is trying to get a reservation. I’m astounded at the popularity of this restaurant. You have to go. I can’t say enough about it!
This place ended up being underwhelming. I was super excited to hear about its opening and good reviews in the media. Unfortunately the food was so-so. My family and I came to celebrate my birthday here. The mushroom soup and curry were decent. The flatbreads were terrible – way too over cooked and burnt. The ravioli was okay. The turnip dumplings were interesting…but not really a top choice. The prices vary so it can become expensive but certain menu items are fairly inexpensive. The beer was really good. The menu is very small. I wouldn’t make it a choice to come back, only if I was in the neighborhood and would only really get the soup and curry.
Really nice ambiance. Servers were very nice. However, the mains took quite a bit longer to arrive than the appetizers. Everything we ordered was delicious! I really loved the flatbread and the ravioli. This is a vegan restaurant I think everyone will enjoy. I didn’t know they did not require tips, so that was an adjustment and I think the menus should have stated that somewhere.
Open during the evenings, this place presents you with dim lights, candles, and the aroma of wood from the wood-fire oven. The menu includes a nice selection of vegan options, so for those with dietary preferences that is a bonus. There are also a number of wines and teas available, and you may also have the opportunity to try a vegetable juice.Every dish is made to order, hand-crafted on the spot and served very fresh. As a result, dishes may take somewhat longer to serve up.Mushroom and cauliflower soup was amazing.Favourite dishes are the Coca bread and the Gnocci. thatumbrellaguy.com
Amazing food! So creative and tasty! Truffle paella, mmmmm. This is my favourite restaurant of all time.Nice decor, very comfortable ambiance, and friendly service.
The best food experience. We enjoyed the tasting menu and liked all the dishes. We can’t wait until the restaurant at is open for breakfast and lunch.
Brilliant food! We had a lovely tasting menu, amazing experience, one of the best in Toronto. Can’t get the asparagus ravioli out of my head or the stuffed chocolate pear out of my heart.
