I just had dinner here and it was a very poor experience. The staff seemed to be stressed out very quick to talk to us and take the menu/water glasses away although there were only a few customers and a few people coming in to pick up take out. We were seated at the back and could hear the staff arguing, it was loud enough to make out what they were saying, something about one of them had done something right, but were told otherwise. Such lack of professionalism. It made for an unwelcoming atmosphere where didnt feel like you were having a nice dinner. The food also wasnt the greatest – spring rolls were greasy, along with the Thai style pad thai and the bbq chicken was a small portion with an even smaller amount of coleslaw (not worth $15.95), the chicken also wasnt marinated and did not look like it had been bbqed. When I brought all this up to our server at the end of the meal she did apologize and when I did ask for a discount I was referred to the manager who did not seem to be overly concerned that we could hear the staff arguing (if I were the manager I would be completely embarrassed), she also said I should have ordered the regular pad Thai instead (I had mentioned that I usually get that one in the lunch special). She then asked if said she could only give a small discount of $10 and thats it. Her demeanor was not sympathetic at all. This was a terrible experience and I am shocked bc I have been coming to Simply Thai for their lunch special since they opened and I am usually greeted by friendly staff/good customer service and thought I would experience the same coming in for dinner. Its one thing to have a terrible experience at a restaurant, but its another when the manager does not even care to acknowledge this and try to adequately compensate for it. Its very unfortunate, but we will not be returning.
