Food was good but they were dishonest business people – Avoid this restaurant!. My cousin passed by Pho Son (2422 St Clair West) and wanted to give this a try. He went with two male friends and ordered 2 large pho noodles and 1 order of Rice with Chicken. On the menu, it was $9 for each of these three items. They didnt order any drinks and had their regular tea which was complimentary. When asked for the check, the waiter gave him a plain white paper with $40.70 on it. He was then puzzled why they didnt break down the items they ordered. Since it was a very small and casual noodle place and some people just paid at the cashier, so he thought this place didnt both to use the invoice. He paid and tipped him. Then a couple of hours later my cousin thought of the bill again. $9 times three dishes was only $27. Plus taxes would be $30.51. Why $40.70? The noodles were actually quite good and really worth for $9 before taxes. He started to think that he mis-read the menu. So he brought me with him yesterday. We ordered item 8 Pho Large size for both of us. $9 each. When we asked for the check, the waiter (different from the previous one) gave us a formal invoice – this time the invoice was printed with invoice number on it. It was listed out very clearly which dish name and size were ordered. 2 lines with $9 each and the total was $20.34. That meant the waiter on the first visit purposely screwed them as sometimes people were busy in talking, eating and left without thinking much of the charges. And sometimes people insisted to buy the lunch and ended up just paid without thinking. It was so disgusting that a small local neighbourhood restaurant was so dishonest. May be they thought they were not Vietnamese and the chance that they would come back for business is very slim. What a shame.
A must try, best pho forsure.
